A flat display device in which a semi-transparent non-display area is processed to be non-transparent for preventing a display area from being reduced and fabricating a thinner flat display device is disclosed. The flat display device includes a first substrate having a display area with a pixel matrix formed therein and a non-display area with a driving circuit for driving the pixel matrix formed therein, a second substrate bonded to the first substrate with sealant, and a light shielding layer formed on the second substrate for making the non-display area non-transparent.

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) display device and a method of driving the same are discussed. The method includes sensing a threshold voltage and mobility of a driving thin film transistor (TFT) included in each pixel using a sensing line connected per pixel and supplying the threshold voltage and the mobility to a timing controller in a measurement mode, by a data driver, and supplying image data input from an external source to the data driver by a timing controller, the timing controller adding and multiplying an offset value and gain value corresponding to the threshold voltage and mobility of the driving TFT, sensed by the data driver in the measurement mode, with the image data to compensate the image data, wherein the compensation of the image data includes varying a weight of the gain value according to luminance of the image data.

Organic light emitting diode display for compensating image data and method of driving the same

A display device according to an embodiment includes a display panel including a display area having pixel areas, and a non-display area surrounding the display area. The display area includes first power lines for providing a first power to the pixel areas. The display device further includes a driver electrically connected to the first power lines of the display panel. The driver includes a driving integrated circuit, signal output pads connected to the driving integrated circuit and configured to output signals, a power supply line disposed outside the signal output pads and configured to supply the first power, and power output pads connected to the power supply line and configured to output the first power from the power supply line to the first power lines, wherein the power output pads are alternatingly disposed with the signal output pads.

Disclosed are an OLED display device and method for sensing characteristic parameters of pixel driving circuits. The display device includes a display panel including pixels each having a light emitting element and a pixel driving circuit for independently driving the light emitting element, and a characteristic parameter detecting unit for driving the pixel driving circuit of one of the plural pixels, which is a sensing pixel, sensing a voltage discharged in accordance with characteristics of a driving TFT in the pixel driving circuit of the sensing pixel, on a data line connected to the pixel driving circuit of the sensing pixel, among data lines connected to respective pixel driving circuits of the pixels, and detecting a threshold voltage (Vth) of the driving TFT and a deviation of a process characteristic parameter (k-parameter) of the driving TFT, using the measured voltage.
