A computer-implemented method includes generating content for display on a heads-up display system, inserting into the content a version of a display element, wherein the version of the display element comprises one or more visual characteristics configured to reduce a perceivability of a ghost image of the display element, and causing the content, including the version of the display element, to be displayed by the heads-up display system.
