An electrical connector assembly includes a central electrical terminal connected to a cable terminal attached to an end of a central conductor of an electrical cable configured to mate with a corresponding mating central electrical terminal. The central electrical terminal comprises a helical coil spring in compressive contact with the cable terminal. The assembly also includes an insulative housing defining a cavity in which the central electrical terminal is affixed and a shield terminal in which the insulative housing, central electrical terminal, and coil spring are disposed. The insulative housing is configured to move longitudinally within the shield terminal. The coil spring exerts a longitudinal force on the central electrical terminal and the insulative housing to maintain mechanical contact between the insulative housing and a corresponding insulative housing in which the corresponding mating central electrical terminal is disposed.

An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical receptacle terminal configured to receive a corresponding electrical plug terminal therein. The electrical receptacle terminal has a helical coil spring. The electrical connector assembly further includes a cable terminal attached to an end of a conductor of an electrical cable. The coil spring is in compressive contact with the cable terminal.

Electrical connector systems and methods create an electrical connection between a flexible circuit (FC) and a metal terminal of another connector. A reliable electrical connection is achieved with a low-cost tin contact plating, by an automatic FC to metal terminal wiping action with contact force, during the connector to FC assembly process. The connector to FC assembly process is also well suited for automated robotic assembly, which can save costs compared to manual assembly/installation.

An electrical connector assembly includes a connector body that is formed of a first dielectric material defining a terminal cavity configured to receive an electrical terminal. The connector body defines a chamber that is separate from the terminal cavity. The chamber contains a second dielectric material that has a lower dielectric constant property than the first dielectric material, such as air. The connector body may be formed by as additive manufacturing process, such as 3D printing, stereolithography, digital light processing, fused deposition modeling, fused filament fabrication, selective laser sintering, selecting heat sintering, multi-jet modeling, multi-jet fusion, electronic beam melting, and laminated object manufacturing.

A method of forming a shielded electrical terminal configured to receive a corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The terminal includes an inner shield defining a shield cavity about a longitudinal axis. The shield cavity is configured to receive the corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The inner shield has a longitudinal inner seam substantially that is parallel to the longitudinal axis. The inner shield defines a plurality of resilient contact springs that protrude into the shield cavity. The contact springs are configured to contact the corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The terminal also includes an outer shield integrally formed with the inner shield and covering at least a portion of the inner shield. The terminal formed by this method is also presented.

Method for forming a shielded electrical terminal and an electrical terminal formed by said method

An electrical connection system configured to terminate electrical connectors and to transmit digital electrical signals having a data transfer rate of 5 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) or higher. The system includes a first parallel mirrored pair of terminals having a planar connection portion and a second pair of parallel mirrored terminals having a cantilever beam portion and a contact point configured to contact the first terminals.

A fine arrestor having a body with a bore there through, an inner conductor within the bore, an inner conductor capacitor within the bore coupled between a surge portion of the inner conductor and a protected portion of the inner conductor, and an inner conductor inductor within the bore coupled electrically in parallel with the inner conductor capacitor. A first shorting portion coupled between the surge portion of the inner conductor and the body and a second shorting portion coupled between the protected portion of the inner conductor and the body, for conducting a surge to ground. A connector includes a conductive body with a central bore along a central axis. The body includes a mounting face for positioning adjacent a mounting surface of a circuit member and for removably engaging a reference pad of the circuit member. A center conductive contact includes a board engaging end for removably engaging a signal pad of the circuit member. An inner dielectric insert is positioned between the conductive body and the center conductive contact. The conductive body, the center conductive contact and the inner dielectric insert are configured to operate at a frequency of at least 40 GHz with a return loss of greater than 20 dB.

An electrical connector having a longitudinal axis with interface and cable ends for coaxial cable having an annular corrugated solid outer conductor. The connector having a body and an interface joined in an interference fit along the longitudinal axis of the connector. A spring finger ring within a bore of the body is rigidly connected to the body. The spring finger ring having a plurality of spring fingers extending towards an connector end; the spring fingers having an inward projecting bead at the connector end. The spring fingers positioned opposite an outer conductor groove open to the cable end, the outer conductor groove proximate the cable end of the interface.

Axial compression electrical connector for annular corrugated coaxial cable

A connector axial compression tool having a lever end and a cable end, with a body slidably supporting a cradle in a cavity formed in the body. The cradle is slidable via a handle which pivots about the body, linked to the cradle by a lever mechanism. The cradle has a shoulder clamp adapted to mate with a connector body. Operation of the handle moves the cradle towards and away from a cable end of the cavity, against a cable clamp through which the cable may pass but against which a cable clamp sleeve of the connector abuts, axially compressing the connector to couple it to the cable. Because the shoulder clamp holds the connector body rather than pressing against the connector interface, a wide range of different connectors may be used with the same tool, without causing damage to the connector interface of the various connectors.

An in-line coaxial circuit assembly having a first portion with a first electrical connector interface on a first end and a second portion having a second electrical connector interface on a second end. The first portion and the second portion adapted to couple together along an outer wall of at least one of the first portion and the second portion. A cylindrical outer conductor section coaxial with the outer wall may be formed in at least one of the portions. The coupling of the first portion and the second portion forms an enclosed cylindrical PCB chamber between the outer conductor section and inner conductor or outer wall, if present. A PCB may be positioned within the PCB chamber, the PCB coupled to the inner conductor through a slot in the outer conductor section, if present.

In-line coaxial circuit assembly

An electrical connector adapted for interconnection with a helically corrugated outer conductor coaxial cable via axial compression. Threads formed in an interior bore of the connector body threadably engage helical corrugations of the outer conductor. Upon axial compression of an interface into an interference fit with the body, a leading edge of the outer conductor is deformed, creating a high quality uniform electrical interconnection and preventing unthreading of the cable from the connector. Gaskets environmentally sealing the various entry paths into the connector are also sealably compressed by the axial movement of the various connector components during axial compression.
