Methods of pyrolytically producing carbons comprising graphene sheets at temperatures below 800&#xb0; C. are disclosed. The graphene sheets, which are not substantially stacked, are formed by templating on hexagonal metal oxides, for example. Extensive stacking of the graphene sheets, which would lead to formation of graphite, is avoided at the low temperatures employed. Also provided are methods of producing heavily nitrogen doped graphene comprising carbons. Methods of using graphene and heavily nitrogen doped graphene are also disclosed.

Low-temperature pyrolysis of organic acid salts providing graphene rich carbons

The present invention provides a novel method for monitoring the reaction kinetics of the biodegradable polymers, and the surface concentration of a drug in a polymer blend matrix. Detailed information on surface concentration, degradation rates, degradation kinetics and mechanism, is provided by using Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF SIMS) measurements. Also provided is a method for determining oligomers in hydrolyzed biodegradable polymers.

Method for testing the degradation of polymeric materials
