A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including liquid crystal molecules, a gate line positioned on the first substrate, a data line positioned on the first substrate and crossing the gate line, a first thin film transistor and a second thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line, a third thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the second thin film transistor, a reference voltage line connected to the third thin film transistor, and a pixel electrode including a first subpixel electrode connected to the first thin film transistor and a second subpixel electrode connected to the second thin film transistor.

Liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display, including: a first substrate and a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a first data line disposed on the first substrate; a pixel electrode disposed on the first substrate; and a common electrode disposed on the first substrate and overlapping at least a portion of the pixel electrode and the first data line. One of the pixel electrode and the common electrode includes a plurality of branch electrodes spaced apart from each other and the other of has an at least approximately planar shape that is substantially parallel to a surface of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate. The display can also include a passivation layer having a dielectric constant of about 3.5 or less, and including a first portion disposed between the common electrode and the first data line.

Liquid crystal display and manufacturing method thereof

In a method of forming a liquid crystal display device, a black matrix is disposed on a substrate including a switching element formed thereon, a color filter is disposed on the switching element, a pixel electrode is electrically connected to the switching element, and a first alignment layer is disposed on the pixel electrode, to form a first substrate. A second substrate including a second alignment layer is formed. At least one of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer includes a reactive mesogen. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A light is irradiated onto the second substrate to provide pretilt angles of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer.

Liquid crystal display device and method of manufacturing the same

Air is sprayed on the first polymer film along a first negative direction in the sub pixel areas of an n-th row of a unit pixel area, and air is sprayed on the first polymer film along a first positive direction in the sub pixel areas of an (n+1)-th row of the unit pixel area to form a first alignment layer. Air is sprayed on the second polymer film along a second negative direction crossing the first negative direction in the sub pixel areas of an n-th column of the unit pixel area, and air is sprayed on the second polymer film along a second positive direction crossing the first positive direction in the sub pixel areas of an (n+1)-th column of the unit pixel area to form a second alignment layer.

In a display apparatus and a method for driving the display apparatus, the display apparatus includes a display panel and a gate driving part. The display panel has a gate line, and a gate driving part has a plurality of stages and a plurality of signal lines. At least one of the stages includes a transferring stage sequentially driving the stage, and an output stage partially driving the gate line, in response to a signal outputted from the transferring stage and a driving area selection signal. A liquid crystal display includes a first insulating substrate, pixel electrodes disposed on the first insulating substrate and divided into a plurality of domains, each domain including micro-concave stripes and micro-convex stripes arranged in a specific direction, a second insulating substrate facing the first insulating substrate, a common electrode, which is not patterned, disposed on the second insulating substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second insulating substrates and including liquid crystal molecules. The liquid crystal molecules are aligned perpendicular to the first and second insulating substrates when an electric field is not applied to the liquid crystal layer, and the liquid crystal molecules are inclined in an extension direction of the micro-concave stripes and the micro-convex stripes when an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer.
