An oral care composition for alleviating dentin hyperesthesia is disclosed. The oral care composition includes a peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence of the following Formula 1:K&#x2014;Y-R1-R2-R3-R4-R5-R6-R7-R8&#x2003;&#x2003;(Formula 1) wherein R1 is arginine (R), lysine (K) or glutamine (Q); R2 is arginine (R) or glutamine (Q); R3, R4, and R5 are arginine (R) or lysine (K), respectively; R6 is asparagine (N) or serine(S); and R7 and R8 are lysine (K) or tyrosine (Y), respectively.

A novel peptide and a composition including the peptide are disclosed. The composition may be a pharmaceutical composition, a quasi-drug composition, a dietary supplement, or a food composition. A polynucleotide encoding the peptide and an expression vector including the polynucleotide are also disclosed. The peptide promotes regeneration of hard tissue and is useful for treating dentin-dental pulp diseases or periodontal diseases.

Provided are compositions including a CPNE4 protein or a polynucleotide encoding thereof, a pharmaceutical composition, a quasi-drug composition, a dietary supplement, and a health functional food composition. A method for preventing or treating dentin-dental disease or periodontal disease and a method and a method for promoting regeneration of hard tissue including dentin, bone and cementum, and/or pulp tissue are disclosed.
