A developing device includes a conveying member to circulate a developer in a housing, a developer discharge portion extending from one end portion of the housing to form a passage through which surplus developer is discharged from the housing, and a discharge regulation member located on an upstream side of the developer discharge portion with respect to a direction in which the developer is conveyed to the developer discharge portion by the conveying member to partially block a conveying path of the developer. The discharge regulation member includes a lower end portion and an upper end portion arranged apart from a bottom and an upper wall of the conveying path, respectively.

Developing device with structure to regulate discharging amount of developer

An example developing device includes a developing case, a developer supply portion connected to the developing case and including a supply port, a shutter to open or close the supply port, and a sealing member attached to an outer circumferential portion of the developer supply portion to prevent leakage of a developer through the developer supply portion and the shutter. The developer supply portion includes a slit portion adjacent to the supply port. The sealing member includes a film member having an opening in communication with the supply port, a fixing portion inserted into the slit portion, and an elastic sealing member. An upper surface of the film member contacts an inner circumferential portion of the shutter, and the elastic sealing member is attached onto a lower surface of the film member along an edge of the opening and surrounds the supply port.

A developer cartridge includes a housing to accommodate a developer and including a developer outlet, and a sensing portion that forms a sensing area to detect whether or not the developer inside the housing is miming out. The sensing portion is recessed into a portion of a lower wall of the housing accordingly having a thickness less than a thickness of a remaining portion of the lower wall.
