An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a battery, a sensor module for acquiring a first temperature, which is the temperature of a first portion adjacent to the battery, a power reception unit for wirelessly receiving power from a charging device, a power management module for supplying power to the battery and an internal system of the electronic device, and a processor electrically connected to the sensor module and the power management module, wherein, while the electronic device wirelessly receives power from the charging device, the processor is configured to transmit a first command to the power management module so the power management module cut offs the supply of the power to the battery and supplies the power to the internal system in response to the battery being fully charged, use the sensor module to acquire a second temperature, and control the power, supplied to the internal system.

The processor may be configured to identify that a first input power is received from a first external power source through a first power input circuit, control the communication module to transmit first rating information corresponding to the first input power to the wireless power reception device, control the at least one communication module to receive, from the wireless power reception device, information on a first charging current determined based on the first rating information in the wireless power reception device, and control the power output circuit so that a first output power is applied to the transmission coil, based on the information on the first charging current.

According to an embodiment, an electronic device comprises a coil, a power transmitting circuit electrically connected with the coil, a sensing circuit, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to wirelessly output, using the power transmitting circuit, a first designated power through the coil to an external electronic device, and identify, using the sensing circuit, first energy detected at the coil due to a foreign object of the electronic device. The control circuit is further configured to, when a magnitude of the energy falls within a first designated range, output, using the power transmitting circuit, a second designated power to the external electronic device, and when the magnitude of the energy falls within a second designated range, abstain from outputting the power to the external electronic device using the power transmitting circuit. Other embodiments are possible as well.
