A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are disclosed. The mobile terminal includes a display, and a controller configured to display, on the display, a home screen on which at least one icon is displayed, to execute an application corresponding to an icon selected from the at least one icon, and to display at least one of a shape, color and size of the at least one icon depending on an execution environment of the application. According to the present invention, a user can intuitively recognize an execution state of an application since an icon corresponding to the application can be displayed differently according to application execution environments.

Disclosed are a mobile terminal capable of implementing an always-on function with a lower power, based on a motion, and a motion-based low power implementing method thereof. The method includes sensing a motion of a user by using an acceleration sensor in a low-power always-on that only the acceleration sensor is activated; a selectively activating an always-on function according to the sensed motion and deactivating the always-on function when no motion is sensed in an always-on state and automatically entering to the low-power always-on function.

A mobile terminal and controlling method thereof are disclosed, which facilitates a terminal to be used in further consideration of user's convenience. The present invention includes a sensing unit including at least one sensor and a controller analyzing a user's mobile terminal use pattern based on a sensing signal received through the at least one sensor, the controller controlling a power of the at least one sensor based on the use pattern and a remaining power of the mobile terminal. Accordingly, powers of a plurality of sensors can be efficiently controlled based on a user's use pattern and/or a remaining power level. And, a user can activate a specific application and/or view a content with ease in a manner of analyzing a user's use pattern for a mobile terminal and then estimating and providing an application and/or a content necessary for the user based on a result of the analysis.
