The polymer blend includes at least 90% by weight low density polyethylene (LDPE) polymer and from 1% to 10% by weight acid copolymer based on the total weight of the polymer blend. In the polymer blend, the LDPE polymer has a melt index (I? 2 #191) from 2 g/10 min to 8 g/10 min as determined in accordance with ASTM D1238, and a molecular weight distribution from 5 to 10.5. In the polymer blend, the acid copolymer is a polymerized reaction product of: at least 60% by weight ethylene, based on the total weight of the monomers present in the ethylene acid copolymer; from 1% to 20% by weight monocarboxylic acid monomer, based on the total weight of the monomers present in the ethylene acid copolymer; and from 0 to 20% by weight alkyl acrylate monomer, based on the total weight of the monomers present in the ethylene acid copolymer.

Low density polyethylene with enhanced adhesion-to-aluminum foil by blending-in acid copolymer resins

Polymer blends, films, and coated substrates that include the polymer blends. The polymer blends include at least 90% by weight low density polyethylene polymer and from 1 to 10% by weight ionomer. The LDPE polymer has a melt index (I)from 2 g/10 mins to 6 g/10 mins, and a molecular weight distribution from 5 to 11 as determined by a conventional gel permeation chromatography method. The ionomer includes an ethylene acid copolymer, in which from 15% to 70% of acid groups are neutralized by sodium cation based on the total number of acid groups in the acid copolymer. The ethylene acid copolymer is the polymerized reaction product of: at least 50% by wt. ethylene, from 2 wt. % to 40 wt. % of monocarboxylic acid monomer, and from 0 to 20 wt. % of alkyl acrylate, based on the total wt. % of the monomers present in the ethylene acid copolymer.

Low density polyethylene with enhanced hot tack strength and adhesion-to-metal by the addition of ionomers

Embodiments disclosed herein include multilayer blown films having a cling layer and a release layer, wherein the cling layer comprises (i) an ethylene/alpha-olefin elastomer, and (ii) a polyethylene polymer selected from ultra-low density polyethylene, a very low density polyethylene, or combinations thereof, and the release layer comprises an ethylene/alpha-olefm resin.

Multilayer films and methods thereof

Embodiments disclosed herein include multilayer films having a cling layer and a release layer, wherein the cling layer comprises (i) an ethylene/alpha-olefin elastomer, and (ii) a polyethylene polymer selected from ultra-low density polyethylene, a very low density polyethylene, or combinations thereof, and the release layer comprises a low density polyethylene (LDPE) having a density of from 0.915 to 0.930 g/cc, a melt index, I, of from 1.0 to 30.0 g/10 min, and a molecular weight distribution, (Mw/Mn), as measured by the conventional calibration of triple detector gel permeation chromatography, of from 3.0 to less than 7.0.

Embodiments disclosed herein include multilayer films having at least an outer layer that includes 1) polyethylene elastomer and 2) ULDPE or VLDPE and that has a purge fraction greater than 20 percent as determined by Crystallization Elution Fractionation (CEF) test method. Embodiments disclosed herein also include related compositions to make such films and methods of making such films. The ULDPE or VLDPE can be made via Ziegler-Natta catalyst reaction techniques to provide the desired purge fraction.

Multilayer film and related materials and methods

The inventors have discovered that both soluble erythropoietin-binding protein and antibodies against the erythropoietin-binding protein, when they are administered to a mammal along with erythropoietin (Epo), prevent or reduce the blood pressure increase normally caused by erythropoietin, while not affecting the hematocrit increase that is the purpose of Epo treatment. The invention provides a method of treating anemia in a mammal involving: administering erythropoietin (Epo) to the mammal; and administering to the mammal an agent selected from a soluble Epo-binding protein (Epo-bp), a recognition protein that binds Epo receptor on an extracellular soluble portion of the Epo receptor, and a combination thereof. The invention also provides a method of reducing hypertension in a mammal receiving Epo, and pharmaceutical compositions containing a soluble Epo-bp and/or a recognition protein that binds Epo receptor on an extracellular soluble portion of the Epo receptor.

Compositions and methods for preventing erythropoietin-associated hypertension

The invention is based on the development of several sensitive and simple methods for detecting erythropoietin and the erythropoietin receptor and associated antibodies. The methods and reagents are useful for differential diagnosis in Epo and EpoR related clinical problems. Methods and kits for simultaneous measurement of erythropoietin and erythropoietin receptor in a biological sample are described.

Antibodies having specific binding affinity for a purified extracellular domain polypeptide are also disclosed. The purified human erythropoietin receptor fragment polypeptide binds erythropoietin. The articles, compositions and methods of the invention are useful for studying ligand binding to erythropoietin receptor and for quantitating the amounts of erythropoietin receptor, as well as for understanding receptor structure and signal transduction.
