A liquid crystal display (LCD) device is disclosed, which comprises a liquid crystal panel which can be displayed in any other color instead of a black color during a non-driving mode through the use of one-color film for selectively reflecting light with a predetermined wavelength. The LCD device comprises a backlight unit for supplying light to a liquid crystal panel including lower and upper substrates; a first polarizing plate formed between the lower substrate and the backlight unit; a second polarizing plate formed on the upper substrate; a passivation substrate for protecting the lower and upper substrates; and a one-color film for selectively reflecting light with a predetermined wavelength during a non-driving mode of the backlight unit.

Liquid crystal display device

Disclosed is an LCD device which facilitates to realize a high aesthetic sense by obtaining a colorful and entirely-unified color screen under the circumstance that an image is not displayed in a turning-off state, wherein the LCD device comprises: a liquid crystal module which comprises a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image; a set cover which supports the liquid crystal module; and a color realization film which selectively transmits light with a predetermined wavelength when the liquid crystal module is turned-off, wherein the color realization film comprises a cholesteric liquid crystal layer (CLC), a quarter wave plate (QWP), and a first adhesive layer formed between the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (CLC) and the quarter wave plate (QWP).

An array substrate of an LCD and a fabricating method thereof are provided. A first insulating layer is formed on the substrate. A TFT and a hardened liquid crystal layer are provided in a pixel region of the substrate. A second insulating layer is formed in the pixel region around the hardened liquid crystal layer such that the second insulating layer and the hardened liquid crystal layer are substantially planar. A first alignment layer is formed between the hardened liquid crystal layer and the first insulating layer. A pixel electrode is formed on the second insulating layer and the hardened liquid crystal layer and contacts a drain region of the TFT through a hole in the first insulating layer. A second alignment layer is formed on the entire substrate over the second insulating layer and the hardened liquid crystal layer.

Array substrate of liquid crystal display device and fabricating method thereof

A method of fabricating an LCD device is discussed. The method in one embodiment includes: forming a gate electrode and a gate pad on a substrate, which is defined into a display area corresponding to pixel regions and a non-display area corresponding to pad regions, through a first mask process; sequentially stacking a gate insulation film, an amorphous silicon layer, an impurity-doped amorphous silicon layer and a metal film on the substrate provided with the gate electrode and then forming an active layer, source/drain electrode and a data line through a second mask process which uses one of half-tone and diffraction masks; and forming a transparent conductive material on the substrate provided with the source/drain electrode and forming a pixel electrode through a third mask process.

Method for fabricating liquid crystal display device

A polarization direction measuring apparatus includes: a first polarizing plate having an unknown polarization direction about a reference axis; a sample whose polarization direction is to be measured; a rotatable sample holder on which the sample is mounted in a first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction, wherein the sample holder rotates the sample along a reference axis in the azimuth direction; a light source that generates light passing though the first polarizing plate and the sample; and a light detector detecting light generated by the light source that passes though the first polarizing plate and the sample.

Apparatus and method for measuring polarization direction of polarizing plate

A liquid crystal display and method of reducing light leakage in a black mode of a liquid crystal display is provided. In the liquid crystal display, a backlight assembly generates light, and a display unit is disposed over the backlight assembly to display an image by using light received from the backlight assembly. A DBEF (dual brightness enhanced film) is attached to a lower polarization plate provided at the display unit. A brightness control plate is interposed between the lower polarization plate and the DBEF to reduce the brightness of an inclined incident light that is not perpendicular to an absorbing axis of the polarization plate.
