A method of controlling a home appliance having a touch panel and a touch panel home appliance using the same, such as a remote controller for controlling a television receiver, facilitate user recognition and selection of a specific function key displayed on a touchscreen, to enable enhanced control of the function key by a user desiring to step through many values of a range of values quickly and accurately. The method includes steps of displaying a main menu on the touchscreen of the touch panel, the main menu including at least one function key for controlling the home appliance, the touchscreen enabling a function key of the main menu to be selected by a user; displaying, in response to a user selection of one of the at least one function key, a set of enlarged keys corresponding to the selected function key of the main menu, the display of the enlarged keys on the touchscreen wholly replacing the display of the main menu; and executing, in response to a touch event with respect to the touchscreen displaying the set of enlarged keys, a control function corresponding to the selected function key, the control function having a parameter value set according to properties of the touch event.

Method of controlling home appliance having touch panel and touch panel home appliance using the same

The present invention provides a writing/reading control method of HD stream in a DVD recorder, by which HD broadcast signals are write in a DVD medium. The present invention includes the steps of storing a plurality of HD streams in the HDD by demodulating HD broadcast signals received from a tuner/demodulator, creating a stream file in a DVD medium to record a specific one of a plurality of the HD streams stored in the HDD, recording the specific HD stream in the stream file, opening to read the HD steam file recorded in the DVD medium, buffering the read HD stream file in the HDD, and reading the buffered HD stream file using a video decoder.

Writing/reading control method of HD stream

A digital TV and a driving method thereof enable a user to view the digital TV without interruption even if the present operating system is in an abnormal state. The digital TV includes a digital TV receiving part for receiving and decoding a broadcasting stream from an outside, a host CPU for controlling the digital TV receiving part, a local CPU for controlling the digital TV receiving part if the host CPU operates in an abnormal state, and a programmable logic device for switching the control of the digital TV receiving part from the host CPU to the local CPU if the host CPU operates in the abnormal state.

A local digital TV signal generator is disclosed, which generates an ATSC RF signal that can be received by a digital TV. Synchronization between a memory device and a VSB remodulator is performed through a controller, and data conversion adapted to the VSB modulator is performed so that streams of ATSC standards are read out from MPEG streams stored in the memory device, thereby outputting an RF signal. Accordingly, the local digital TV signal generator has the low cost and a small volume to facilitate movement as compared with the related art. Since the local digital TV signal generator is mounted inside or outside the PC and implemented using an operating system (O/S) for PC, it is simple and easy in installation and use. Furthermore, since the streams stored in the memory device can be reduced without an external device, it is useful in view of aspects such as mobility, economical efficiency, and maintenance. Moreover, since the local digital TV signal generator can receive and store a digital TV signal which is currently broadcasting, various sources can be provided without a separate device. Also, the local digital TV signal generator may be acted as a digital VCR for home use depending on purpose of use, and may be acted as a digital DVD player if a title of a movie, for example, is provided from a DVD to adapt to the ATSC transport standards.
