A rechargeable battery includes: a case having a receiving space at the inside thereof and having an opening; an electrode assembly accommodated in the receiving space of the case and including a first electrode and a second electrode; a cap plate at the opening of the case; and a terminal assembly at the cap plate, wherein the terminal assembly includes a terminal plate electrically connected to the first electrode, a terminal post extending through the terminal plate and the cap plate, an end of the terminal post being connected to the first electrode, and a bonding member between the terminal post and the terminal plate.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap plate coupled to the case, a first current collector coupled to the first electrode of the electrode assembly, and a first terminal assembly. The first terminal assembly includes a first terminal coupled to the first current collector and having a first fixed groove or a first fixed protrusion, and a second terminal having a second fixed groove coupled to the first fixed protrusion or a second fixed protrusion coupled to the first fixed groove.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode and a negative electrode, each of the positive and negative electrodes including a coated region and an uncoated region at an end of the coated region in a longitudinal direction of the electrode assembly, a case housing the electrode assembly, a terminal coupled to the electrode assembly, and a current collecting member electrically coupling the electrode assembly to the terminal, wherein the uncoated region is fixed to the current collecting member, and includes a portion that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the electrode assembly.

A secondary battery including an electrode assembly, the electrode assembly including electrode plates and a separator interposed between the electrode plates, at least one of the electrode plates including a coated part, the coated part including a metallic plate having an active material coated thereon, and an uncoated part, the uncoated part including a metallic plate without active material coated thereon, the uncoated part including a folding line in the uncoated part, and a folding part with an end portion folded with respect to the folding line; and a current collector electrically contacting the folding part.

Secondary battery

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly that performs charging and discharging, a case in which the electrode assembly is installed a cap plate coupled to the case, a lead tab connected to an electrode of the electrode assembly, and an electrode terminal in the cap plate and connected to the lead tab. The electrode terminal includes a column portion inserted into a terminal hole of the cap plate and a flange portion at one end of the column portion, the flange portion being wider than a cross-section of the column portion, and the flange portion being at an inner side of the cap plate. The lead tab includes an insertion portion into which the column portion is inserted, the lead tab being welded in a surface contact manner to the flange portion along an inner surface of an external circumference of the insertion portion.

A rechargeable battery includes: a case; an electrode assembly housed in the case and including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode, the first electrode having a coated portion coated with a first active material and an uncoated portion absent the first active material; a safety assembly including a first electric conductive plate and a first supporting protrusion extending from the first electric conductive plate and physically coupled to the uncoated portion; a current collecting tab electrically coupling the electrode assembly with the terminal and physically coupled to the uncoated portion; and a first auxiliary plate physically coupled to the uncoated portion at a surface of the uncoated portion opposite to where the first supporting protrusion is physically coupled to the uncoated portion.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly that undergoes charging and discharging; a case containing the electrode assembly; a terminal electrically connected to the electrode assembly and protruding from an interior of the case to an exterior of the case; a lead tab electrically connecting the terminal and the electrode assembly; and an insulating pack that insulates the electrode assembly from the case, the electrode assembly being disposed in the insulating pack and the insulating pack being disposed in the case, the insulating pack including one or more indentation portions formed at one edge and one or more grooves positioned to correspond to the indentation portion and insertion-coupled to the indentation portion.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly that performs charging and discharging, a case in which the electrode assembly is located, a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case, and electrode terminals located in the cap plate and insulated from the cap plate by insulation members located at terminal holes of the cap plate, the electrode terminals being connected to electrodes of the electrode assembly and extending outside the cap plate and the electrode terminals including a fastening portion that receives at least a part of a bus bar to be welded.

Rechargeable battery and module of the same

A rechargeable battery configured to stably and easily interrupt a current includes: an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; a case containing the electrode assembly therein and having a first opening at one end thereof; and a first plate coupled to the case and sealing the first opening, the first plate electrically connected to the electrode assembly, wherein the first plate includes a wrinkle portion configured to deform for disconnecting the first plate from the electrode assembly when an internal pressure of the case is greater than a reference pressure.

A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and separators which are wound together, current collecting plates attached to the electrode assembly, a case configured to accommodate the electrode assembly and the current collecting plates, and a cap configured to cover an opening of the case and electrically connect to the current collecting plates. Each of the current collecting plates includes a current collecting part and a welding part. The current collecting parts electrically connect to the electrode assembly. The welding part is welded to the electrode assembly and the current collecting part.

A rechargeable battery including an electrode assembly including a negative electrode and a positive electrode; a case housing the electrode assembly; a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case; a negative terminal and a positive terminal penetrating the cap plate and connected to the negative electrode and the positive electrode, respectively; an external short-circuit unit separately provided between the negative terminal and the cap plate and configured to short-circuit the negative terminal on the cap plate; and a thermistor for connecting the positive terminal and the cap plate, wherein the thermistor is configured to have reduced resistance when its temperature is increased.

A battery including: a case having a case region extendable along a first direction; an electrode assembly housed within the case and including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode, the first electrode including a first uncoated region at a first end of the electrode assembly, and the second electrode including a second uncoated region at a second end of the electrode assembly, the second end facing oppositely away from the first end, and the first uncoated region being spatially separated from the second uncoated region along the first direction; and a terminal electrically coupled to at least one of the first uncoated region or the second uncoated region, the case region being between the first uncoated region and the second uncoated region along the first direction.

Rechargeable battery having an extendable case region

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly comprising a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator located between the first and second electrode plates; a case housing the electrode assembly; and at least one short circuit inducing member electrically coupled to the first electrode plate or the second electrode plate of the electrode assembly and adapted to induce a short circuit in the rechargeable battery when the shape of the rechargeable battery is changed.

An electrode terminal and a secondary battery including the same, the electrode terminal including a screw member, the screw member including a flange on a lower outer peripheral surface thereof; and a coupling member including an upper portion bent so as to surround at least a part of the flange, and a lower portion bent so as to contact an internal surface of a cap assembly and coupled to the cap assembly.
