Laser-induced ultrasonic wave apparatuses and methods of generating images using the same. The laser-induced ultrasonic wave apparatus includes a laser source which irradiates a laser beam to a target object and a thermoelastic material; a thermoelastic material which converts the laser beam to a first ultrasonic wave and irradiates the first ultrasonic wave to the target object; and a receiving unit which receives an echo acoustic wave of the first ultrasonic wave and receives a second ultrasonic wave generated by the target object due to the laser beam.

Laser-induced ultrasonic wave apparatus and method

A breast scanning apparatus which uses photoacoustic ultrasonic waves is provided. The breast scanning apparatus includes a body which includes a first hole and a second hole which are horizontally parallel to each other; a first compression plate and a second compression plate, at least one of which is movable in a vertical direction with respect to the body; a first sliding plate and a second sliding plate, which are respectively installed on surfaces of the first compression plate and the second compression plate and are facing each other and are movable in a first direction; a first ultrasonic transducer array in the first compression plate and facing the first sliding plate; and a first laser head in the first compression plate, which is movable in a second direction which is perpendicular to the first direction.

Breast scanning apparatus using photoacoustic ultrasonic wave

Provided are a laser-induced ultrasound generator and a method of manufacturing the laser-induced ultrasound generator. The laser-induced ultrasound generator includes: a substrate including a plurality of nanostructures provided on a first surface of the substrate; and a thermoelastic layer provided on the first surface of the substrate, the thermoelastic layer being configured to generate an ultrasound by absorbing a laser beam incident onto a second surface of the substrate, the second surface facing the first surface. The nanostructures may be cylinder-shaped nano-pillars.

Ink feedhole of inkjet printhead and method of forming the same

A method of manufacturing an inkjet printhead includes forming a chamber layer having multiple ink chambers on a substrate. A sacrificial layer is formed and is configured to fill a space associated with the ink chambers on the chamber layer. A nozzle layer is formed on the top surfaces of the chamber layer and the sacrificial layer and having multiple nozzles. An etching mask is prepared on the bottom surface of the substrate. The etching mask has at least one linear etching pattern configured to define a portion of the substrate in which an ink feed hole is to be formed. The substrate is etched through the linear etching pattern until the sacrificial layer is exposed and a through hole is formed. The through hole defines the portion of the substrate in which the ink feed hole is to be formed. The sacrificial layer and the portion of the substrate surrounded by the through hole are removed to form the ink feed hole.

Method of manufacturing inkjet printhead

A Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) switch includes a substrate, a fixed signal line formed on the substrate, a movable signal line spaced apart from one of an upper surface and a lower surface of the fixed signal line, and at least one piezoelectric actuator connected to a first end of the movable signal line so as to bring or separate the movable signal line in contact with or from the fixed signal line. The piezoelectric actuator includes a first electrode, a piezoelectric layer formed on the first electrode, a second electrode formed on the piezoelectric layer, and a connecting layer formed on the second electrode and connected with the movable signal line.

A thermal inkjet printhead is provided including a substrate, and a chamber layer, which is stacked on the substrate. The chamber layer includes an ink chamber that is filled with ink supplied from an ink feed hole. The printhead includes a heater inside the ink chamber that heats the ink, an island, which is formed on the substrate at an ink inlet port of the ink chamber, and a nozzle layer, which is stacked on the chamber layer, including a nozzle for ejecting the ink. The walls of the ink chamber and the island that face each other are symmetrical with respect to the center of the nozzle.

A display apparatus having a front substrate that is a display panel, a rear substrate disposed at a predetermined distance apart from the front substrate and facing the front substrate, the rear substrate comprising a back light unit, and a cooling device to remove heat generated by the rear substrate. The cooling device includes an actuator disposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate, the actuator to generate an ion wind using a voltage, a transparent electrode installed to face the actuator and which is grounded, a plurality of supports to support ends of the actuator, and a high-voltage power source to apply a voltage to the actuator.

A downward type micro electro mechanical system (EMS) switch and a method of fabricating the same is provided. The downward type MEMS switch includes first and second cavities formed in a substrate, first and second actuators formed on upper portions of the first and second cavities, first and second fixing lines formed on an upper surface of the substrate and not overlapped with the first and second cavities, and a contact pad which is spaced apart at a predetermined distance from surfaces of the first fixing line and the second fixing line but which can be contacted with the first fixing line and the second fixing line when the first actuator and the second actuator are driven. The contact pad, which is actuated downward by piezoelectricity, is fabricated as it shares a layer with a RF signal line, after the RF signal line is fabricated.
