A back light unit is disclosed. The back light unit includes a laser light source having a superior system organization efficiency and color reproducibility, and achieves uniform illumination by diffusing laser beams onto a light guide panel.

Back light unit

A projection display is disclosed. The present invention can eliminate the reflective light on the internal optical surface of the optical system, using the phase plate and linear polarizer, in the color sequential driving of illuminating at least two colors on the single display panel at a random moment. The phase plate converts the incident light from a linearly polarized light to a circularly polarized light, and vice versa. And, the linear polarizer transmits the linearly polarized light of the incident light in the specific direction. Therefore, the present invention prevents the degradation of color purity generated from the mutual intrusion of light of at least two colors, thereby enhancing quality of color image.

Projection display

The present invention provides an illumination system and projection system using the same. Single panel illumination system and projection display apparatus using the same

Disclosed is a reflection-type micro display projection system having a polarization beam splitter with an optimized structure. The reflection-type micro display projection system includes a light source, an optical system, a reflection-type liquid crystal display panel, a projection lens, and a screen. When the incident angle of the light beam, which is output from an illumination lens of the optical system and input to a polarization beam splitter on the basis of the normal of the boundary face of the polarization beam splitter, is &#x3b1;, the refractive angle of the light beam refracted inside the polarization beam splitter is &#x3b2;, and the refractive index of the polarization beam splitter is n, n&#xd7;sin &#x3b2;=sin &#x3b1;. The refractive index n is larger than 1.6 and smaller than 2.0. The refractive angle &#x3b2; is smaller than 75&#xb0;.

Micro display projection system

An integrator of an optical device using a color drum is disclosed. The integrator includes an opening receiving a light generated from a lamp, an optical path part reflecting and passing forward the light received at the opening, a mirror part refracting and totally reflecting the light passed through the optical path part and changing a direction of the light being transmitted, a polarization plate transmitting light rays having a constant polarization direction, among the reflected light, and reflecting remaining light rays having other polarization directions, and a wave plate changing a phase of the light reflected from the polarization plate.
