A differential amplifier circuit for amplifying an input signal and for providing an output signal representative of the input signal includes first and second amplifier circuits, and first and second coupling circuits. The first and second amplifier circuits each include first and second transistors, a resistor, and a current generator. The first coupling circuit includes a transistor, a capacitor, and a current generator, and couples a first input signal node to the first transistor of the second amplifier circuit. The second coupling circuit includes a transistor, a capacitor, and a current generator, and couples a second input signal node to the first transistor of the first amplifier circuit.

High bandwidth low noise cross-coupled amplifier

A disk drive system including a write circuit for controlling current through a magnetic write head includes an H-switch circuit and a pulse-mode power supply circuit. The H-switch circuit controls direction of current through the magnetic write head. The pulse-mode power supply circuit is connected to the H-switch circuit for providing a higher voltage pulse at a beginning of a switching event of the H-switch circuit to accelerate a change in direction of current through the write head, followed by a lower voltage until a next switching event.

A non-linear transconductance amplifier includes a differential input stage and a non-linear transconductance stage operatively coupled to the differential input stage. The differential input stage includes first and second inputs forming a non-inverting input and an inverting input, respectively, of the amplifier for receiving an input differential signal. The non-linear transconductance stage generates an output of the amplifier having a linear transconductance that is substantially zero when the input differential signal is within a predetermined range and a non-linear large transconductance when the input differential signal is outside the predetermined range. The amplifier provides improved response time to widely varying load conditions while possessing a low loop bandwidth. A threshold region where the output of the amplifier is substantially zero can be operatively adjusted and tightly controlled. Furthermore, the amplifier accomplishes these advantages without employing timing circuitry and without the necessary overhead and/or noise often associated with such timing circuitry.

Exponential transconductance amplifier

A disk drive system including a write circuit for controlling current through a magnetic write head includes an H-switch circuit and a charge-pumping circuit. The H-switch circuit controls direction of current through the magnetic write head. The charge-pumping circuit is connected to the H-switch circuit for storing energy during a first state of the H-switch circuit, and delivering energy upon switching from the first state to a second state of the H-switch circuit to accelerate a change in direction of current through the write head.

A differential amplifier with an emitter follower input stage includes an RC network which provides negative common mode feedback to stabilize the emitter follower stage. The feedback network provides negative common mode feedback from collector to base of the emitter follower transistors.
