Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may use transmissions causing power density exposure (PDE) to nearby users. To reduce the PDE of an antenna module (e.g., below a maximum PDE threshold), the UE may implement a shielding strip around the antenna module. For example, the antenna module may include a substrate having a first surface and a set of antenna elements on the first surface. The shielding strip may enclose the set of antenna elements of the antenna module and extend away from the first surface above the antenna elements. The shielding strip may reduce PDE outside a field of view of the antenna module. Additionally, in some cases, the placement of the antenna module in the UE and the materials used for constructing the UE may further reduce PDE.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, configuration information indicating a set of component carriers (CCs) associated with the UE. The UE may communicate, with the base station, after receiving the message, using one or more activated CCs of the set of CCs over a tuned radio frequency (RF) bandwidth that is based on receiving the message and based on the one or more activated CCs. Optimized component carrier activation and deactivation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, one or more downlink grants scheduling one or more corresponding downlink transmissions from the base station to the UE. In some examples, the UE may enter a state of sleep prior to receiving the one or more downlink transmissions. In such examples, the UE may wake up from the state of sleep at a first time that is at least a threshold period of time before a second time corresponding to a beginning of the one or more downlink transmissions. After waking up from the state of sleep, the UE may activate a notch filter and use the activated notch filter to filter a spur generated at the UE. The UE may receive the one or more downlink transmissions with improved reliability based on activating the notch filter.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may select two transmit beams from a plurality of beams that the UE is capable of forming using an antenna array of the UE that includes a plurality of antenna elements, wherein the two transmit beams are to be used to transmit two corresponding layers of information; determine, after selecting the two transmit beams, a phase difference to be applied to the two transmit beams based at least in part on the two transmit beams; and transmit the information on the two corresponding layers concurrently via the two transmit beams using the phase difference. Power density exposure control

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform calibration of a transceiver chain to maintain or improve operation of a device or comply with legal or protocol requirements. The UE may receive one or more wireless signals indicating a first set of resources where the first device is scheduled to transmit or receive communications. The UE may calibrate a wireless transceiver chain of the first device in a second set of resources. The second set of resources excludes the first set of resources and includes at least a portion of a third set of resources. The third set of resources are resource in which the first device has an option to transmit or receive communications based on a protocol configuration.

Wireless transceiver calibration opportunities

Aspects described herein relate to communicating in a wireless network. Downlink control information having a dynamic resource allocation indicator can be received from a serving access point. It can be determined whether the dynamic resource allocation indicator indicates at least one symbol in a subframe is for uplink data communications or reference signal transmission. Uplink data communications can be transmitted using the at least one symbol based at least in part on the determination that the dynamic resource allocation indicator indicates the at least one symbol in the subframe is for the uplink data communication, though a broadcasted reference signal configuration may indicate otherwise. Techniques for dynamically allocating uplink resources in wireless communications

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for sounding reference signal (SRS) management in carrier aggregation (CA) are described. A user equipment (UE) may be scheduled for overlapping (e.g., concurrent) transmissions of SRS and uplink control or data on different cells of a CA configuration. In some cases, the SRS transmission may be dropped (e.g., the UE may refrain from transmitting a scheduled SRS). While in some cases, the UE may transmit both SRS and another uplink message in overlapping time intervals on different cells (e.g., SRS may be transmitted concurrently with another uplink message). A determination of whether to transmit or drop SRS may be based on whether the different cells have different cyclic prefix (CP) lengths or on whether the SRS is scheduled to be transmitted in a special subframe of a time division duplexing (TDD) configuration, for example.

SRS transmission in management in carrier aggregation

Methods, systems, and devices are described for mapping, by a UE, uplink transmissions to one or more antennas of the UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive an uplink resource allocation identifying a set of resource blocks (RBs) from a base station. The UE may map subsets of the set of RBs to one or more of a plurality of antennas of the UE and transmit one or more uplink transmissions, using the subsets of the set of resource blocks, on the one or more antennas based at least in part on the mapping. Additionally, in some aspects, the UE may determine channel characteristics or CSI associated with the downlink from the base station and base the mapping of subsets of RBs to one or more antennas of the UE on the determined channel characteristics/CSI.

Transmit antenna diversity scheme

Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved performance on a multi-subscriber identification module (multi-SIM) wireless communication device. The wireless communication device may detect transmit activity on a modem stack associated with the first SIM, and detect a communication activity scheduled on a modem stack associated with the second SIM having a higher priority. If the transmit activity on the modem stack of the first SIM will impede the communication activity, the wireless device may identify subframes on the modem stack associated with the first SIM that overlap in time with the communication activity and for each identified subframe, blank symbols that conflict with the communication activity to develop a partially blanked subframe. The partially blanked subframe may be transmitted according to a blanking policy.

The apparatus determines an observed bit rate based on uplink transmissions of the UE, estimates an available link capacity for the UE, selects an estimate factor, and estimates available uplink throughput for future uplink transmissions of the UE as a function of the observed bit rate, the estimated available link capacity, and the estimate factor.
