An LCD monitor with a dual interface, having a DVI-I connector through which digital and analog video signals from a computer main body are input, and digital and analog display modes according to the type of the input video signal. The monitor includes a signal sensing part to sense the video signal input through the DVI-I connector; and a control part to adapt the display mode for the type of video signal input when the computer main body is performing system booting, based upon the sensing result of the signal sensing part. The present invention provides an LCD monitor with a dual interface and a control method thereof, which can display a system booting screen even if a video signal input when the computer system is performing a system booting is unfit for a preset display mode.

A method for controlling a data set-up system in a display device comprises the steps of: maintaining an off-mode when electric power is supplied to the display device in order to store operation mode data in a memory; reading out predetermined identification information indicating a storage state of the operation mode data in the memory in the off-mode; comparing reference identification information, indicating a storage state of the operation mode data stored in a microcomputer in which the display device is normally operated, with the identification information in the off-mode data; and controlling operation of the display device according to a result of the latter comparison. With the above method, and with a data set-up system performing functions corresponding to the above steps, breakdown of a circuit due to damage in operation mode data is prevented.

Data set-up system for display device and control method thereof

In a cable matching method and a monitor for performing the method, one of several video connection ports and one of several communication connection ports are selected. It is then determined whether the video cable connected to the selected video connection port matches the serial communication cable connected to the selected communication connection port. The other of the communication connection ports is selected if it is determined that the video cable connected to the selected video connection port does not match the serial communication cable connected to the selected communication connection port. Matching information representing the matching relationship between the video cables and the serial communication cables is obtained after the other communication connection port is selected, or if it is determined that the video cable connected to the selected video connection port does match the serial communication cable connected to the selected communication connection port. The term &ldquo;matching&rdquo; denotes the connection of the video cable and the serial communication cable to the same video input source. The monitor displays a picture corresponding to a video signal received via the selected video connection port, and a communication connection port, to which the serial communication cable that matches the video cable connected to the selected video connection port is connected, is connected to a manipulator operable by a user. In this way, an environment for easy and effective use of two video input sources can be easily established.
