A method for controlling a power output by an electronic device is provided. The method includes determining whether power is supplied by the electronic device to an external electronic device, by checking a connection unit of the electronic device, determining whether data communication with the external electronic device is possible, based on the determination, and controlling the output of power through the connection unit, based on a result of the determination of whether the data communication is possible.

Content recommendation apparatus and methods using a tag cloud provide a content recommendation service via a network. The apparatus includes a content tag cloud generating module configured to generate a content tag cloud by analyzing a tag assigned to each content and accumulating frequencies per tag of each content. The apparatus also includes a user tag cloud generating module configured to generate a user tag cloud by accumulating frequencies per tag of contents used by a user. The apparatus further includes a similarity computing module and a recommending module. The similarity computing module is configured to compute a similarity between users using the user tag cloud, and the recommending module is configured to recommend content by computing a probability that a target user will use a specific content based on the computed similarity between users.

Wireless communication apparatus and method using an adaptive credit redistribution algorithm

A wireless communication device, a wireless communication system using the same, and a communication method therefor are provided. When a wireless communication device operated as a slave intends to communicate with other slave communication devices, the communication-intending slave device transmits a packet where an address of a destination slave device is recorded in a header region as a destination address to the wireless communication device operated as a master. When the address recorded in the header region of the packet is an address of another slave device, not the communication-intending slave device, the master device transmits the packet to the wireless communication device of the destination address. Accordingly, the communication is performed using the address recorded in the header region of the transmitted packet as the destination address. As a result, peer-to-peer communication between the slave devices is performed, without increasing a data processing load in the Bluetooth communication.

A wireless communication apparatus and a method using the same are capable of transmitting data while changing a packet type according to a packet error rate. The wireless communication apparatus has a transceiving portion for receiving and transmitting a data packet from and to an external device, a packet type selecting portion, a calculation portion for calculating a packet error rate and transmission time of a transmitted data packet, and a control portion for controlling the packet type selecting portion to select a proper packet type for a transmission of a next data packet based on the calculated packet error rate so that the data can be transmitted within a minimum time and with a maximum efficiency. The wireless communication apparatus maximizes data transmission efficiency since it can transmit the data packet while changing the packet type adaptively to the packet error rate.

The present invention discloses an apparatus and method for avoiding mutual interference between wireless communication systems. A measurement unit measures the strength of a signal received through a channel to be used in a transmission slot for a switching time of a reception mode and a transmission mode. A judgment unit compares the strength of the received signal with the strength of a reference signal, and judges data transmission. A control unit outputs a signal for performing a transmission operation of the data according to the judgment of the judgment unit. The wireless communication system transmits the data according to the input signal from the control unit. The data transmission is decided by confirming the state of the transmission slot, thereby avoiding collision with a communication apparatus using a frequency identical to a frequency of the channel of the transmission slot.

Wireless communication method for avoiding mutual interference between wireless communication systems, and apparatus thereof

A wireless communication apparatus capable of adjusting a time interval between slot sections in accordance with the amount of traffic in a piconet. The wireless communication apparatus has a transceiver for sending and receiving data to and from an external device, a beacon channel generator for generating a train of beacon slots during a park mode, with a constant interval, a slot section calculator for calculating the time interval of the trains of beacon slots consecutively generated based on a coefficient of slot utilization and a wakeup ratio, and a controller for controlling the beacon channel generator for allowing the trains of beacon slots to be generated at the time interval calculated by the slot section calculator. The beacon channel generator sets up an access window for activating the data communication with the external device, after the trains of beacon slots are generated. Accordingly, the wireless communication apparatus can cope with the change of traffic characteristics of piconet environment, as the time interval of the trains of beacon slots can be adjusted according to the coefficient of slot utilization and the wakeup ratio of the slot section.

Wireless communication apparatus and method capable of adjusting beacon period

A wireless communication device and a controlling method thereof. The wireless communication device performing wireless communication includes a transceiver for transmitting and receiving data externally, and a controller for processing the data received from the transceiver, the wireless communication device operating as a slave that is connected to a master, the controller receiving a polling data addressed to the device from a master through the transceiver, and temporarily stopping the operation of the transceiver during a sleep period which is determined according to the number of other slaves connected to the master. Since the wireless communication device operated as an active slave can stop its data transmission/reception during a communication standby period, i.e., until the beginning of the next polling slot, the power consumption can be considerably reduced without affecting the communication itself.
