Methods and apparatuses are provided for determining an interference transmission mode (TM) at a communication device in a cellular communication system using a resource element (RE) defined by frequency and time. A first signal is received in one RE. The first signal comprises a serving signal and an interference signal. A first vector of the received first signal is projected onto each of N projection vectors. A traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) decision metric of the interference signal is determined by using N pairs of an actual squared value and an expected squared value which are corresponding to the projected first vector. A TM of the interference signal is detected by determining a TF of the interference signal which minimizes the TPR decision metric from among predetermined transmit format (TF) candidates.

Method and apparatus for blind detecting a transmission mode for interference cancellation

An apparatus and method for controlling decoding in a wireless communication system are provided. Data is received in a slot associated with a packet to be received. A threshold is determined according to format information of the packet. It is determined whether to decode the received data by comparing the threshold with the number of slots received in relation to the packet. The received data is stored without decoding, if the number of the received slots is less than or equal to the threshold. The received data is decoded to recover the packet, if the number of the received slots is greater than the threshold.

That is, an HARQ buffer is dynamically controlled. Therefore, there are the effects reducing the size of the entire chip, as well as reducing power consumption of the entire system according to the reduction of the chip size.

A method and apparatus provide a broadcast parameter message in a mobile communication system providing a broadcast service. If the provided broadcast service is time domain multiplex (TDM)-multiplexed, a message generator generates the broadcast parameter message by setting a field indicating the TDM multiplexing, setting a field indicating a position of the broadcast service in each sub-buffer, setting a field indicating whether one sub-buffer includes one service and a field indicating validity of the field, and setting a field exclusively indicating actual broadcast service data stored in one sub-buffer. Apparatus and method for providing broadcast parameter message in a mobile communication system

Provided is an apparatus and method for controlling a dynamic range of weight vectors according to a combining method to fit an input range of a channel decoder in a mobile station of a high rate packet data system. The apparatus includes a channel estimator for receiving pilot symbol from a base station and calculating channel estimation values of receive paths of each antenna, an autocorrelation matrix calculator for calculating autocorrelation matrix values in every chip duration from the received pilot symbols, a weight vector calculator for calculating weight vectors using the channel estimation values and/or autocorrelation matrix values according to a combining method of the multi-path received signals, a controller for outputting modified weight vectors by fitting an input range of a channel decoder according to the combining method, and a combiner for outputting the combined signal by multiplying descrambled received signals by the modified weight vectors. An apparatus and method for estimating and combining frequency errors in a mobile communication system. A controller divides data received from a main base station (BS) and control information received from a neighbor BS and controls allocation to fingers. A main automatic frequency control (AFC) loop is formed by estimating and combining frequency errors of the data received from the main BS. A sub AFC loop is formed by subtracting a corrected value of the main AFC loop after estimating and combining frequency errors of the control information received from the neighbor BS.

An apparatus for removing a DC offset during frequency direct conversion in a reception device of a wireless communication system. In the apparatus, an adder receives a digital baseband signal comprising a DC component, receives an estimated DC offset value, and calculates a difference between the digital baseband signal with the DC component and the estimated DC offset value. A DC offset calculator receives gain mode information of an analog element of the reception device, and calculates the estimated DC offset value according to the gain mode.
