Disclosed herein is a sliding/hinge apparatus for sliding/rotating type mobile terminals, which can be slid and rotated from a body housing of the sliding/rotating type mobile terminal. The sliding/rotating type mobile terminal includes a body housing and a slide housing slidably mounted on the body housing. The apparatus comprises first and second hinge frames mounted in the body housing by means of screws, first and second plates, one or more slide bars, and a coupling unit inserted through the center parts of the first and second hinge frames so that the first and second hinge frames are rotatably coupled with each other while being opposite to each other.

The conical compression coil spring is compressible into a plane, so that the space required for installing and assembling the hinge device in the portable terminal can be reduced. When the hinge housing is combined with the folder of a foldable terminal, the hinge cam is combined with the body of the foldable terminal. Combining the hinge housing with the folder and the hinge cam with the body obviates the need for an axis of a conventional hinge cam, which combines the hinge device with the body, thus enabling the miniaturization of the hinge device and a portable terminal using the same.

The hinge device comprises a driving part generating a driving force for rotating the sub body, and a clutch part for rotating the sub-body by the driving force of the driving part. When the sub-body rotates by external force, the clutch part prevents rotating force of the sub-body from being transmitted to the driving part. Such a hinge device configured as stated above allows the user to automatically open and close the sub-body of the information terminal by virtue of a driving motor provided therein, as well as to manually open and close it. Further, the user can freely adjust an opening angle of the sub-body to various angles, resulting in improvement in convenience of use.
