Disclosed is a method for, preventing, ameliorating or treating dementia by administering a composition containing 2'-fucosyllactose. 2′-FL ameliorates brain damage caused by amyloid beta and neuroinflammation by suppressing or preventing accumulation of the amyloid beta, thus being highly effective in preventing, ameliorating and treating dementia.

Composition for ameliorating or treating dementia containing 2'-fucosyllactose

Disclosed is a method for preventing or treating muscular atrophy or sarcopenia, the method comprising administering a composition comprising 2'-fucosyllactose (2′-FL) as an active ingredient to a subject in need thereof. The composition administered to the subject increases the expression of genes related to mitochondrial function enhancement and mitochondrial biosynthesis, and reduces the expression of atrogin-1 and MuRF1 genes, which are markers for muscular atrophy, thereby providing effects of strengthening muscles and preventing muscular atrophy or sarcopenia.

Method for ameliorating, preventing or treating muscular atrophy or sarcopenia by administering composition comprising 2'-fucosyllactose as active ingredient

Disclosed is fucosyllactose having antiviral activity and inhibitory activity against viral infection, and a method for preventing or treating a viral infection by administering a composition including fucosyllactose as an active ingredient to a subject in need thereof. It was found that 2′-fucosyllactose and 3-fucosyllactose, which are human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), have antiviral activity, and in particular, 3-fucosyllactose in vitro and in vivo exhibits much higher antiviral activity and inhibitory activity against viral infection compared to 2′-fucosyllactose and is thus useful as an antiviral agent.

Antiviral composition containing fucosyllactose as active ingredient

Disclosed is a method for improving the productivity of 2'-fucosyllactose (2&#x2032;-FL) through enzymatic treatment. Lactose used as a substrate in the stationary phase during culture is degraded by treatment with a small amount of enzyme, the resulting glucose is consumed to produce guanosine diphosphate-L-fucose as a precursor of 2&#x2032;-fucosyllactose, and the use of lactose left after culture can be maximally utilized for the production of 2&#x2032;-fucosyllactose. As a result, it is possible to increase the productivity of 2&#x2032;-fucosyllactose in an economically efficient manner because additional glucose is not required while minimizing by-products.
