A liquid crystal display device is disclosed which includes a diagnosis controller configured to receive abnormity detection signals representing whether components of the liquid crystal display device are functioning normal. The components of the liquid crystal display device may include an LVDS interface, a timing controller, a data driver circuit, a backlight driver, a supply voltage generator. Such a liquid crystal display device handles treatable abnormities without any external help. In accordance therewith, complexity caused by transferring a large number of signals can be simplified.

Method and apparatus for driving liquid crystal display device

An LCD device and a method for driving the device reduces power consumption by transmitting data by using at least two clock signals having different phases. The LCD device displays a picture image by driving an LCD panel that includes multiple source drivers applying data signals to the LCD panel. Multiple gate drivers apply gate driving signals to the LCD panel, a timing controller outputs at least two clock signals having different phases and separately outputs data synchronized with each output signal, and at least two data buses transmit the data separately output from the timing controller to the source drivers. The method for driving the LCD device includes outputting at least two clock signals having different phases, and separately outputting the digital data synchronized with respective clock signals per odd/even numbered data or R/G/B display data through different data buses.

Liquid crystal display device and method for driving the same

A liquid crystal display capable of diagnosing an abnormal driving state of a system and a liquid crystal display panel. In the liquid crystal display, a liquid crystal display panel has pixel cells arranged in a matrix pattern. A system supplies a timing synchronizing signal and video data. A timing controller generates timing control signals for driving the liquid crystal display panel in correspondence with the timing synchronizing signal inputted from the system, and re-arranges and outputs the input video data. A switching device generates a desired driving control signal. A self-diagnosing circuit applies a specific data to the liquid crystal display panel in response to the driving control signal. A driver is connected between the liquid crystal display panel and the timing controller to display the video data inputted from the timing controller on the liquid crystal display panel in correspondence with the control signals.

The driving circuit of the LCD device includes a memory dividing the peripheral environment into a plurality of modes and storing information of each mode, an environment sensor sensing variation of the peripheral environment, a controller selecting information of a mode corresponding to the resultant value sensed by the environment sensor, a digital variable resistor adjusting a resistance value to correspond to mode information selected by the controller, and a gamma voltage outputting unit outputting a plurality of gamma voltages corresponding to the adjusted resistance value.
