The present invention relates to a method for motion compensation and state-of-motion specific attenuation correction of positron tomography images by using a small number of low-radiation-dose computer tomography images. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: acquiring respiration-specific PET data; acquiring CT images from at least 2 different respirations, and using same to generate a virtual 4D CT image; matching the 4D CT image and the respiration-specific PET data, and selecting 3D CT images accurately corresponding to specific respirations; using the selected results to extract respiration motion displacement field information between respiration-specific PET data; using the selected CT images to subject the respiration-specific PET data to respiration-specific attenuation and scattering correction; and using the corrected respiration-specific PET data items and the extracted respiration motion displacement field information items to carry out respiration compensation and reconstruction.

A method of medical image registration includes obtaining a first medical image generated before a medical surgery; obtaining a second medical image generated in real time during the medical surgery; extracting landmark points of at least two adjacent anatomical objects recognizable in the second medical image among a plurality of anatomical objects near an organ of interest of a patient from the first medical image and the second medical image; and registering the first medical image and the second medical image based on a geometrical correlation among the adjacent anatomical objects indicated by the landmark points of the first medical image and a geometrical correlation among the adjacent anatomical objects indicated by the landmark points of the second medical image.

Embodiments for providing a 2-dimensional (D) computerized-tomography (CT) image corresponding to a 2-D ultrasound image through image registration between 3-D ultrasound and CT images are disclosed. An imaging system comprises a CT imaging unit, an ultrasound image forming unit, a storing unit, a processor and a display unit. The processor extracts the 2-D CT image from the 3-D ultrasound-CT registered image by performing a rigid-body transform upon the 3-D ultrasound image and calculating similarities between reference images and the 2-D ultrasound images, wherein the reference images are obtained through the rigid-body transform.

A method and apparatus for removing an image blocking artifact by using a transformation coefficient are provided. The method includes: detecting a first blocking artifact which is in a flat region of the input image; removing the first blocking artifact using a number of low frequency coefficients from among transformation coefficients for each transformation block of a plurality of transformation blocks of the input image, based on a result of detecting the first blocking artifact; detecting an edge region of the input image; and removing a second blocking artifact, which is in an edge region of an intermediate image obtained from the removing of the first blocking artifact of the input image, based on the detected edge region in the input image.
