Redundant wireless sensor networks include a plurality of wireless sensors and a wireless data concentrator. The plurality of wireless sensors sense a parameter and transmit sensor signals representative of the parameter sensed. The wireless data concentrator receives the sensor signals and adjusts the transmission schedules of at least one of the plurality of wireless sensors based on a change in operating status of one or more of the plurality of wireless sensors.

Battery use management for wireless networks

A remote data concentrator includes an enclosure with an interior divided into first and second compartments, a first transceiver, and a second transceiver. The first transceiver is seated within the first compartment and the second transceiver is seated within the second compartment. The first and second compartments are radio-frequency isolated such that the transceivers can independently communicate with external wireless devices and communicate with one another for testing readiness of the RDC for communication with external wireless devices.

Remote data concentrator self-test

A channel management method includes determining utilization of a primary wireless channel, determining utilization of one or more secondary wireless channels, and comparing utilization of the primary wireless channel with utilization of the each of the one or more secondary wireless channels. If utilization of a secondary wireless channel of the one or more secondary wireless channels is lower than the utilization of the primary channel, data communication between a data concentrator and a remote wireless node is routed from the primary channel to the secondary channel.
