A control system is provided for controlling a power receiving circuit which is configured for receiving power wirelessly and producing an output voltage. The power receiving circuit has a resonant LC circuit including an inductive element and a capacitive element coupled in parallel. The control system includes a switching circuit coupled in parallel to the resonant LC circuit, and a feedback loop circuit configured for regulating the output voltage by controlling duration during which the switching circuit is in a conductive state in each cycle of a voltage developed across the resonant LC circuit.

An apparatus and method for charging a battery includes a battery to be charged, a power delivery path configured for delivering power to the battery, and an integrated switching battery charger configured for charging a battery by delivering output power to the battery via the power delivery path based on input power from an input power source. The integrated switching battery charger includes an output voltage regulation loop and an input voltage regulation loop, both of which are configured to control the output current flowing out of the integrated switching battery charger to the battery. The input or output voltage regulation loops are further enhanced by adding a current source which is proportional to absolute temperature from the regulated voltage to the control voltage for the purpose of either regulating peak power from the source or to maximize energy storage in the battery as a function of temperature.

An apparatus and method for charging a battery. The disclosed apparatus includes a battery to be charged, a power delivery path configured for delivering power to the battery, and an integrated switching battery charger configured for charging a battery by delivering output power to the battery via the power delivery path based on input power from an input power source. In the disclosed apparatus for charging a battery, the integrated switching battery charger includes an output voltage regulation loop and an input voltage regulation loop, both of which are configured to control the output current flowing out of the integrated switching battery charger to the battery. A controlled endpoint sawtooth waveform generator and methodology is implemented by a circuit that uses charge sharing between capacitors to produce a sawtooth having one or both endpoints that are suspended between the power supply rail and ground. The circuit may comprise a timing capacitor to which a charging source is coupled, and a switched capacitor coupled to the timing capacitor through a first controlled switch and to a source of switched capacitor reference voltage through a second controlled switch. The first and second controlled switches are responsive to a control signal, that may be internally or externally provided, for mutually exclusive switch operation. An output sawtooth thereby is produced having one endpoint determined by a fixed voltage source and the other endpoint in accord with the capacitance ratio of the timing and switched capacitors.
