The present invention relates to a primer coating composition that includes, (a) a (meth)acrylic polymer that includes hydroxyl groups, and which has a Tg of at least 30&#xb0; C. The primer coating composition further includes, (b) a polyester that includes hydroxyl groups, and which has a weight average molecular weight of less than 3000, and a hydroxyl value of at least 100. The primer coating composition also includes, (c) a crosslinking agent having at least two isocyanate groups. The present invention also relates to a coated article that includes a repaired area that includes a primer coating formed from the primer coating composition of the present invention. The primer coating compositions, in accordance with some embodiments, provide reduced or minimal ringing defects.

Also provided are curable compositions containing these catalysts and methods of controlling the rate of cure of curable compositions.

Thermolatent catalyst and its use in curable compositions

Disclosed is a coating composition comprising a resinous binder prepared from a reaction mixture comprising (a) a first component; (b) a second component; and (c) a third component comprising a block copolymer having (i) a first block comprising units having functional groups reactive with at least one of the first and second components and (ii) a second block comprising units having functional groups that promote adhesion to a polymeric substrate, provided that the first component, the second component, and the block copolymer differ from each other. The block copolymer may also be used as an additive in a coating composition.

Curable compositions based on polyuretidiones, polythiols and photoactivable bases are disclosed. Also a process for generating isocyanate groups by exposing uretidiones to radiation in the range of 100-315 nm is disclosed. Methods of catalyzing chemical reactions are provided. A tri-substituted phosphine having at least one substituent that is an alkyl group is added as a catalyst to reaction mixtures. Reaction mixtures contain uretdiones, anhydrides, or isocyanate functional materials including isocyanurates, in various combinations with hydroxyl, thiol, and/or amine functional materials. Curable compositions comprising these catalysts and reaction mixtures are also provided.

Coating compositions comprising a polyurea formed from a reaction mixture comprising isocyanate and a (meth)acrylated amine are disclosed. The (meth)acrylated amine is the reaction product of a polyamine and a mono(meth)acrylate; the ratio of equivalents of isocyanate groups to equivalents of amine groups is greater than 1 and the isocyanate and the (meth)acrylated amine reaction product can be applied to a substrate at a volume mixing ratio of 1:1. Methods for using the coatings, and substrates coated therewith are also disclosed.
