The present invention provides improved adhesion promoters for latex paints. The adhesion promoters are enamines of acetoacetate esters, or substituted acetoacetate esters. The invention also provides two new compounds which are useful as adhesion promoters: 2-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol bis(3-amino-2-butenoate) and trimethyl propane tris(3-amino-2-butenoate), and which are stable to hydrolysis on prolonged storage.

Disclosed is an improved process for the preparation of ketoximes, especially ketoximes derived from branched chain ketones, wherein a ketone is reacted with a hydroxylamine salt in the presence of an alkanol, a heterogeneous base and up to about 5 weight percent, based on the weight of the ketone and alkanol, water.

Disclosed are thermosetting, powder coating compositions comprised of semi-crystalline polyesters and .epsilon.-caprolactam-blocked bis(1-cyanato-1-methylethyl) benzene compounds which are readily curable at relatively-mild temperatures and using cure times commonly used to cure (cross-link) powder coatings. When using equivalent curing conditions, the disclosed coating compositions exhibit a higher degree of cross-linking than do combinations of amorphous polyesters and the .epsilon.-caprolactam-blocked bis(1-cyanato-1-methylethyl)-benzene compounds.
