Therapy regimes of a plurality of subjects are remotely monitored and/or managed, wherein the therapy regimes include reception of aerosolized medicament. This enables users such as medical care providers, researchers, clinic administrators, and/or other users to monitor and/or manage the therapy regimes of the plurality of subjects through a centralized access point. This reduces physical requirements of proximity for the users and/or the subjects, alleviates the administrative burden placed on the users to manage and/or monitor individual therapy regimes, and/or provides other enhancements over convention systems.

System and method of remotely monitoring and/or managing the treatment of a plurality of subjects with aerosolized medicament

A monitoring device includes a housing that is constructed and arranged to be removably attached to a drug delivery device for an inhaled drug. A color detector is operatively associated with the housing and constructed and arranged to detect an identifying color of at least a portion of the drug delivery device when the housing is attached to the drug delivery device and to output color information for use by a processor to, based on the detected color, identify information about the inhaled drug.

Color identification for drug delivery system

A nebulizer comprises a head detachably coupled to a body. The head comprises a nebulizer, an air channel and a flow sensor. A nebulized liquid is released in an air channel that ends in a mouth piece through which a user inhales and exhales. The inhaling and exhaling causes a flow in the air channel which is detected with the flow sensor. The nebulizer is controlled by a controller included in the body.

Nebulizer

A nebulizer () comprises one or more removable components (), for example a mesh assembly (), mouthpiece, plunger assembly () and medication chamber (), each having an associated data carrier (). The data carrier () can be used to store information indicating the type of removable component () that is fitted to the nebulizer (). A removable component () may be from a set of such removable components. For example, a mouthpiece () fitted to the nebulizer () may be from a set of mouthpieces having different flow rates. The data carrier () may also be used to control operation of the nebulizer (). A data carrier () attached to a mesh () may be used to prevent the nebulizer () from being used when the mesh () has been used a predetermined number of times.

Drug delivery apparatus and method

A respiratory drug delivery apparatus () includes a medication storage and delivery device () having an outlet () and a feedback and compliance device () coupled thereto. The feedback and compliance device has an opening, and the outlet of the medication storage and delivery device is received through the opening. The feedback and compliance device includes: (i) one or more sensors (), each of the one or more sensors being structured to sense a parameter relating to use of the respiratory drug delivery apparatus without modifying or interfering with a flow of medication introduced by actuation of the medication storage and delivery device, (ii) one or more feedback devices (), and (iii) a processing unit () programmed to cause the one or more feedback devices to provide feedback information to a patient () regarding use of the respiratory drug delivery apparatus based on an output of at least one of the one or more sensors.

Respiratory drug delivery apparatus including a feedback and compliance device

An apparatus () and method to aid in administering inhaled pharmaceutical aerosol to a patient is configured to maintain a tongue in proper position and offset the patients upper and lower jaws during aerosol delivery. An adjustable member () is provided adjacent a mouthpiece and at least partially surrounds and moves with respect to the body of the apparatus. The adjustable member has a step structured () to impart a selected amount of mandibular advancement to a patient during aerosol delivery. A tongue depressor () which may be integrally formed with the adjustable member configured to prevent a tongue from occluding a flow of aerosol is also provided.

Apparatus and method comprising adjustable stepped mouthpiece for aerosol drug delivery

A nebulizer comprises a head detachably coupled to a body. The head comprises the nebulizer, an air channel and a flow sensor. Controlling drug delivery apparatus

A nebulizer has structure for determining the duration of a pulse of atomization during inspiration, the determination structure including components for measuring the tidal volume of a patient, measuring the duration of inspiration, for storing estimates of the volume of a patient's upper airway, and for calculating the duration of the pulse. The duration of the pulse is calculated on the basis of the tidal volume, the duration of inspiration, and the stored estimated volume of patient's upper airway.

Drug delivery apparatus

A nebuliser having elements for determining the duration of a pulse of atomisation during inspiration, including elements for measuring the tidal volume of a patient timing elements for measuring the duration of inspiration, elements for storing estimates of the volume of a patient's upper airway, and elements for calculating the duration of the pulse. The duration of the pulse is calculated on the basis of the tidal volume measured by the tidal volume measuring elements; the duration of inspiration measured by the timing elements, and the stored estimated volume of patient's upper airway from the storage elements.

Nebulizers

A product dispensing system comprises a calibrated nebulizer having a nebulizer jet, mouthpiece, means for sourcing compressed air, a manifold for distributing the source of compressed air in at least one direction, a nebulizer accommodation means which is accessed by port, and a valve means for controlling the manifold and thereby the flow of compressed air to the port. The manifold and the port are linked by a length of tube, wherein the internal volume of the tube from the manifold outlet to the nebulizer jet is less than 0.7 ml.

Dispensing system

An apparatus for and a method of ensuring the fit of a face mask to the face of a patient, the apparatus including a face mask having an inlet through which gas can be inhaled and a sensor for measuring the flow rate of gas drawn through the inlet of the face mask. The fit of the face mask is determined by monitoring the flow rate of gas drawn through the inlet of the face mask upon inhalation by a patient. The face mask is considered to satisfactorily fit the patient when a substantially regular inhalation waveform is achieved.
