Cloud simulation or validation system allows for the simulation of a future node that may be deployed on a piece of hardware. The system may attempt to simulate the operating system for node-A on top of the hardware for node-A, including basic network connectivity. When a host is booted up with the simulated configuration, validation scripts may be run to verify that the site is correctly prepped for cloud deployment. With its pre-staged RAM-based OS temporarily loaded into the host's RAM memory, any set of OS-based scripts, tools or binaries, may be executed for simulation and validation based upon the intended role of the host onto which the cloud simulation or validation system configuration is loaded.

Methods and apparatus for performing non-intrusive data link layer performance measurement in communication networks are disclosed. An example method to measure data link layer performance between existing network nodes disclosed herein comprises coupling a first intelligent network interface (INI) to an available access port of a first existing network node providing access to a network, wherein the first INI obtains power and input information only from the access port after being coupled thereto, and exchanging test messages between the first INI and a second INI coupled to a second existing network node during normal operation of the first and second existing network nodes to measure data link layer performance, wherein the test messages originate in the first INI and are routed through the first and second existing network nodes using a first data link layer address associated with the first INI and a second data link layer address associated with the second INI.

Methods and apparatus for performing non-intrusive network layer performance measurement in communication networks are disclosed. An example method to measure network layer performance between existing network nodes disclosed herein comprises coupling a first intelligent network interface (INI) to an available access port of a first existing network node providing access to a network, wherein the first INI obtains power and input information only from the access port after being coupled thereto, and exchanging test messages between the first INI and a second INI coupled to a second existing network node during normal operation of the first and second existing network nodes to measure network layer performance, wherein the test messages originate in the first INI and are routed through the first and second existing network nodes using a first network layer address associated with the first INI and a second network layer address associated with the second INI.

Methods and apparatus for performing non-intrusive network layer performance measurement in communication networks

A method and apparatus is disclosed for improving network performance in a communication system. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to group a plurality of wireless base terminals (WBTs) into first and second groups that share at least one common WBT and select a resultant communication path for the at least one common WBT to a mobile telephone switching office based on differential delays associated with alternative communication paths for combinations of WBTs in at least one of the first and second groups. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Method and apparatus for improving network performance in a communication system

A method and apparatus is disclosed for method and apparatus for maintaining network performance in a communication system. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network management server (NMS) that manages operations of a communication system including an access office (AO) coupled to a plurality of base terminals (BTs) by way of a corresponding plurality of network elements. The NMS can have a network configuration element that identifies for each of the plurality of BTs a plurality of resultant communication paths to the AO according to a plurality of differential delays calculated from alternative communication paths connecting combinations of the BTs to the AO for each of a plurality of change scenarios affecting the plurality of network elements, wherein the network configuration element arranges portions of the plurality of BTs into a corresponding plurality of groups, and selects for each BT in a select one of the plurality of groups its corresponding plurality of resultant communication paths to the AO according to differential delays calculated for alternative communication paths associated with combinations of BTs in the selected group and the plurality of change scenarios affecting the selected group. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
