A power tool may have features for varying height or speed. The power tool may include a base chassis, one or more wheels mounted to the base chassis, and a handle frame attached to the base chassis. A slider assembly or support rail may further be included with the power tool to, for instance, aid in varying speed or height.

A lawnmower includes a first battery having a first voltage, the first battery mounted on the lawnmower; a second battery having a second voltage different than the first voltage, the second battery mounted on the lawnmower; and a booster configured to boost the second voltage to the first voltage, wherein the booster is connected to a common rail operating at the first voltage.

A lawnmower comprising: a body; a cutting element coupled with the body; a motor configured to drive the cutting element; a sensor comprising an accelerometer configured to detect an angular displacement of the lawnmower with respect to a vertical axis and a wobble of the cutting element with respect to a horizontal plane; and a processor configured to: compare the detected angular displacement against a tilt threshold value; compare the detected wobble against a wobble threshold value; and control an operational speed of the cutting element when the angular displacement exceeds the tilt threshold value or when the wobble exceeds the wobble threshold value.

A power tool system including a battery pack and a power tool. The power tool includes a power tool housing, a drive unit located within the housing, and a power tool controller located within the housing. The power tool controller is configured to receive a signal from the battery pack (for example, a battery pack controller), the signal indicative of a temperature (for example, a temperature of the battery pack); determine whether the temperature is between a lower temperature threshold and an upper temperature threshold; and limit a power to a drive unit if the temperature is between the lower temperature threshold and the upper temperature threshold.

In a general aspect, a position detection system includes a magnetic field generator configured to generate a time-varying magnetic field. The magnetic field generator includes a carrier assembly that defines a first axis of rotation and comprises a permanent magnet having a center of mass. The magnetic field generator also includes a drive assembly that is coupled to the carrier assembly and configured to act on the carrier assembly to rotate the permanent magnet simultaneously about the first axis of rotation and a second axis of rotation. The second axis of rotation intersects the first axis of rotation at an intersection that is offset from the center of mass of the permanent magnet. The position detection system additionally includes a computer device configured to determine a position of a sensor based on magnetic field measurements obtained by the sensor in the time-varying magnetic field.
