Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to a method performed by a Wireless Communication Device (WCD) for securing wireless communication. The method includes obtaining a configuration descriptive of network entity(s) comprising (a) Legitimate Network Entity (LNE(s)); (b) or Illegitimate Network Entity (INE(s)); or (c) both LNE(s) and INE(s). The method includes determining that a trigger condition for applying the configuration has occurred. The method includes, responsive to making the determination, applying the configuration to the WCD such that connection related procedure(s) of the WCD related to connection between the WCD and the network entity(s) are adjusted in such a manner that the WCD is permitted to connect to only the LNE(s), not permitted to connect to the INE(s), both permitted to connect to only the LNE(s) and not permitted to connect to the INE(s), or not permitted to connect to any network entity.

Topological location discovery in an ethernet network

A client terminal and method for receiving Internet Protocol (IP) media packets over an IP distribution network. The client terminal includes a plurality of interfaces to the IP distribution network, the interfaces configured to receive media packets according to multicast, unicast, and peer-to-peer media distribution protocols. A media cache controller determines whether the media packets received over the interfaces are tagged as non-cacheable. If so, the media cache controller passes the media packets to a decoder for decoding and transmission to a video renderer. When the received media packets are not tagged as non-cacheable, the media cache controller caches the media packets in a local cache, and subsequently distributes the cached media packets to another client terminal or to a caching node using the unicast or the peer-to-peer media distribution protocol. Media packets received using one media distribution protocol may be distributed using a different media distribution protocol.

A method and network node for distributing media across an IP network, the network node having multicast and peer-to-peer ingress interfaces, and unicast and peer-to-peer egress interfaces. For each of a plurality of contents, the network node selects an ingress interface and receives media packets representing the content at the selected interface. For each media packet received, the network node determines from information conveyed in the media packet whether that media packet can be cached at the network node and caches the media packet if permitted. When the network node receives a request from a further network node for a given content, the network node selects an egress interface and forwards media packets representing the given content to the further network node over that selected interface. If media packets representing the given content were cached, the cached media packets are forwarded to the further network node.

A qualification and monitoring function () monitors the line conditions of a last mile access network that is connected with a multi-access broadband network. The qualification and monitoring function () sends data to a Resource Manager () of the access network upon request. The monitoring function collects, stores, and analyzes performance data, media conditions and stability data using interpretation filters to derive performance indicators. The conditions of the network are also automatically provided to the resource manager () for immediate attention if the access network conditions exceed predetermined thresholds.
