An efficient email display is provided. Elements in the email that are determined to be useful or relevant to a particular recipient are displayed and elements that are determined not to be useful or relevant to the recipient are removed from view. A received email is parsed for identifying elements that can be collapsed or expanded when displayed to the recipient. A predetermined value is applied to each element based on the content type. The weight of one or more of the elements is adjusted by applying a weight based on one or more weight factors. A collapsed or expanded display state is assigned to each content element based on the adjusted value. Further, the email message is rendered in the email client application interface to the recipient, where elements having the expanded display state are displayed and elements having the collapsed display state are hidden.

Automated display state of electronic mail items

A host computing device can include a host domain that includes an agent for configuring the operation and/or functionality of virtual machine instances and/or operating systems associated with the instances, which may be heterogeneous (i.e., running different operating systems than each other). One or more data volumes associated with the host machine can include an image of an operating system. In an embodiment the agent can access the image of the operating system and configure operating system settings, add data, and/or remove data.

A technology is described for a load time updatable driver. An example method may include presenting a driver interface to a computing instance launched in a computing service environment that enables the computing instance to interact with a virtualized resource, where the driver interface is an interface to driver functionality that enables the computing instance to interact with the virtualized resource via a hypervisor. Context information for the computing instance may be obtained and the context information may be used to identify a driver image for the virtualized resource that enables the computing instance to interact with the virtualized resource. The driver image for the virtualized resource may be obtained and the driver image may be loaded into computer memory and registered with the driver interface.

Driver version identification and update system

Systems and methods for detecting the generation of authentication credentials for virtual machine instances are described. In various embodiments, an intermediary system may detect or determine, for a virtual machine instance, one or more states associated with a credential (e.g., a password) generation process and/or a get password request from a requesting user. Based on detected or determined virtual machine states, the intermediary system may provide useful and/or timely status indicators or notifications to the requesting user. In various embodiments multiple states may be determined sequentially or in parallel in order to provide more detailed information regarding whether and why a credential is or is not available, contributing to an improved user experience. For example, timely indication that a password may not be available may be useful to the requesting user who can take immediate steps to remedy the situation, such as by contacting customer service.

Detecting generation of virtual machine authentication

A system and method for remotely interacting with a virtualized machine instance (VMI) through a trigger mechanism resident at the VMI. When the VMI receives a request via the trigger mechanism, the VMI responds to the request, such as by obtaining a program and executing the program locally at the VMI.
