A hand-held printer that includes an inkjet array having a plurality of inkjets is disclosed. The hand-held printer may include an inkjet cap sized to cooperatively engage the inkjet array, wherein the inkjet cap is movable between and open position and a closed position, and a plurality of wipers carried by the inkjet cap, wherein each of the plurality of wipers is configured to engage one of the plurality of inkjets as the inkjet cap moves from the open position to the closed position; and wherein each of the plurality of wipers includes a gasket configured to form a seal adjacent to one of the plurality of inkjets.

An apparatus for use in exercising in water, preferably deep water running, includes a shoe that is configured to be worn by the user. The shoe includes a plurality of drag-generating elements attached to and extending from each side of said shoe for generating drag forces on the shoe during movement in water. The drag-generating elements generate more drag for movement of said shoe in a rearward direction than in a forward direction and are sized and positioned to simulate the forces on the user's foot arising from land-based running.

In addition, there is no device positioned between the two rolelrs that engages the inner surface of the treadmill belt so as to move the outer surface toward the pen. THe service statino further includes a drive axle coupled to one of the rollers and a mechanism for switching a direction of travel of the treadmill belt.

A carrying case for external defibrillator having at least one surface-mounted operation features. The carrying case includes a main interior compartment that securely holds a defibrillator such that at least one of surface-mounted operational features of the defibrillator is accessible to the operator without removing the defibrillator from the carrying case. This enables the defibrillator to be used while held in said main interior compartment. At least one storage compartment is provided having an interior dimension adapted to hold at least one item associated with the defibrillator. The storage compartment has an associated aperture formed on an exterior of the carrying case such that the storage compartment is accessible from an exterior of the carrying case.

A defibrillator having infrared communication capability is provided. The wireless communications capability is implemented using infrared light or RF communications and standardized communications protocols such as the IRDA protocol to allow for ready communication between defibrillators such as during handoffs of patient along the Chain of Survival. The wireless communications network also allows for communications between a defibrillator and a host computer such as a palmtop for incident report generation after each handoff. Another embodiment of the present invention provides for a defibrillator having an infrared mode switch to allow for restricted access to advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) features of the defibrillator. A thermal inkjet printer with firing nozzles perpendicular to the carriage motion has two motors: paper and carriage. These motors, alone or in concert, provide the power to the service station. The service station has separate wiping and pen cleaning functions. The wipers need to move across the pens in a direction that is perpendicular the carriage direction. Through the use of gears, the wipers can be made to clean the pens at the same time that the paper is being advanced and using the same motor source. For capping, the caps are moved into place as the pens come to rest. The motion of the pens themselves could easily push a lever that pushes the caps into place.

A roller for contacting print media in an image forming device includes a tubular core formed of a first material and having an inner surface and an outer surface, and a sleeve formed of a second material and surrounding a portion of the tubular core. The sleeve includes an inner portion surrounding a portion of the inner surface of the tubular core and an outer portion surrounding a portion of the outer surface of the tubular core. The outer portion of the sleeve has an outer surface for contacting the print media. As such, contact of the print media with the roller is made by the outer portion of the sleeve when the print media is routed through the image forming device.

A multi-axis restraining system for releasably restraining a battery pack installed in an instrument battery pocket such that the battery terminals and instrument contacts are rigidly secured to each other. The instrument contacts are loosely mounted within the instrument so that they may float, traveling with the battery pack in response to shocks and vibration. The present invention significantly eliminates relative motion between the battery terminals and instrument contacts, substantially eliminating welding and fretting of the contacts and terminals. The present invention is particularly beneficial in instruments such as defibrillators which require reliable and efficient use of the battery power.
