A system can monitor data usage, including an amount of searchable data used and/or a rate at which the searchable data is manipulated, on a storage allocation in a networked environment. The storage allocation can have a quantity/number of partitions, including at least one partition, configured to store the searchable data. The system can detect that the data usage is beyond a specified threshold and then based at least in part on factors such as network traffic, CPU usage, and/or data usage, the system can modify the storage allocation to increase or decrease a size of the partition and/or the quantity of partitions. Network traffic for the storage allocation can be directed away from the portion of the storage allocation being modified. When modifying the storage allocation is complete, the network traffic can be directed to the modified portion of the storage allocation.

A method and system for knowledge management are disclosed. A plurality of profiles of entities are identified wherein the profiles comprise a shared characteristic. The contents of the plurality of profiles are added to a generated aggregate profile.

Expertise services platform

An entity using a computing device can upload searchable data to a network service to be indexed and stored. The data can include a plurality of data fields, each data field having one or more associated values. The network service can analyze the data fields and their respectively associated values to determine data field types for the data fields and search options to be enabled for the data fields. Based at least in part on the data field types and the search options, the network service can generate a search index configuration/schema. Based at least in part on the generated search index configuration/schema, the network service can generate a search index for the data. In some embodiments, the network service can also convert the data into a format compatible with the search index.

A method of addressing a communication, such as an e-mail, for transmission over a network is disclosed. A knowledge server accesses a descriptive profile for each of a number of potential recipients of the communication. A subset of the potential recipients is identified as suggested recipients based on detected correspondences between the content of the communication and the contents of the respective descriptive profiles for the potential recipients. The subset of suggested recipients is then presented to the sender of the communication, in conjunction with an indication of the correspondence between the content of the communication and the contents of the respective descriptive profiles. The indication of the correspondence may, for example, include highlighting terms within the communication that match published terms within the descriptive profiles of the suggested recipients.

Method and system for addressing a communication document for transmission over a network based on the content thereof

A plurality of mappings of each keyword of a plurality of keywords contained in a set of terms to one or more related keywords of a plurality of related keywords in the set of terms is created. One or more mappings from the plurality of mappings is selected based on a set of parameters. Finally, the selected mappings are processed to obtain one or more search expressions.

System and method for matching terms contained in an electronic document with a set of user profiles

A search is refined, where a user enters a keyword, and a database comprising terms is searched for terms comprising the keyword. Every unique member in the terms is assigned an importance value to produce a set of discriminator members. The discriminator members are presented to the user, and the user may select one or more of the discriminator members to refine the search. If the user selects any keywords, a new keyword is created using the original keyword and the selected discriminator members. A new search is conducted based on the new keyword.

An agent in a knowledge management system automatically manages profile terms in a user profile by selecting certain terms in a private portion of the user profile and moving the selected terms to a public portion of the profile. Additionally, the selected terms can be further filtered to determine which will be moved. The owner of the user profile also may specify whether a particular term is always moved, never moved, or moved only when the user is alerted that the term is selected and the owner chooses to move the term.
