In one embodiment, an X-ray system includes a handheld X-ray interface device. The handheld X-ray interface device includes a wireless interface for communicating with an imaging system and a tracking device configured to provide a location and/or to track movement of the handheld X-ray interface device relative to the imaging system, wherein the location or tracked movement of the handheld X-ray interface device is communicated to the imaging system as an input for at least one control function of the imaging system.

In one embodiment, a method includes generating a unique pairing code with control circuitry that controls the operation of the X-ray system, providing the unique pairing code to the wireless device in the form of a pulse sequence and receiving a wireless signal indicative of the unique pairing code from the wireless device. The wireless device is then paired and enabled for use with the X-ray system.

A triggering signal originating from a photosensor arranged to receive light at the mobile imaging system, a signal indicative of movement of the mobile imaging system, or user or system command is used to adjust the lighting source. The light source can be a light emitting diode (LED), collimator lamp, halogen lamp, fluorescent lamp, organic display, or any other light-emitting technology. The light source is adjustable as to color and intensity and can indicate the mobile imaging system's condition, status, or event.

A time measurement element is started responsive to the power ON signal to assess a current duration of operation of the system. A controller is configured to determine first and second velocities to drive the first and second drive wheels based on an angle of rotation of the column with respect to the longitudinal axis.

A status indication device configured for use in an x-ray system is disclosed. The device includes an audio receiver, a processor, a tone generator, and an adjustment mechanism. The audio receiver is configured and disposed to collect audio information surrounding the x-ray system. The processor is coupled to the audio receiver and receptive of a signal representative of the collected audio information. The tone generator is coupled and responsive to the processor and is configured to generate an audio tone in response to a defined status of the x-ray system. The adjustment mechanism is coupled to the tone generator and the processor and dynamically develops a set of audio properties that cause the audio tone to be distinguishable from the collected audio information.

Systems, methods and apparatus are provided through which the presence of a portable detector in a parking mechanism of mobile digital radiography system is used to change the operating mode of the portable detector and a mobile X-Ray system. An existing mobile digital X-Ray imaging system may be retrofitted with parking sensor mechanism for determining the proximity of the portable detector to the mobile digital radiography system. Also provided is a method for controlling a mobile digital imaging system having a mobile X-Ray base and having a parking mechanism for holding a detachable detector. Upon detecting the presence of the detachable detector in the parking mechanism a control signal is generated to alter the speed of the mobile unit and the power consumption status of the detachable detector.

The heater array includes a conductive polymer coating compatible for use in medical diagnostic imaging systems. The conductive polymer coating is utilized to produce thermal energy capable of heating the tabletop and thereby increase patient comfort.
