A wear resistant part includes a first material including a structure having a surface feature. The first material is capable of maintaining its structure at a temperature from about 1000&#xb0; C. to about 1500&#xb0; C. (e.g., upon exposure to the temperature or upon being heated to reach the temperature). The wear resistant part also includes a second material formed into a shape extending partially around the structure of the first material while exposing the surface feature of the first material. The shape of the second material is formed by a matrix infiltration at a temperature from about 1000&#xb0; C. to about 1500&#xb0; C.

Aspects of the disclosure can relate to a displacement assembly that includes a housing that defines a passage to be in fluid communication with a pressurized fluid supply proximate to a first end of the passage. The displacement assembly also includes a displacement mechanism slidably coupled with the housing to reciprocate in the passage from a first orientation where the displacement mechanism is proximate to the first end of the passage toward a second orientation where the displacement mechanism is proximate to a second end of the passage opposite the first end. The displacement mechanism and the housing define a seal for preventing pressurized fluid from the pressurized fluid supply from migrating through the passage when the displacement mechanism is in the first orientation. The displacement mechanism and the housing allow pressurized fluid to migrate through the passage when the displacement mechanism is in the second orientation.

A fluidic modulator in accordance to an aspect includes a body forming a flow aperture between an inlet and an outlet, the flow aperture providing a constriction to a fluid flowing axially from the inlet to the outlet, and a moveable element having a shaft portion disposed through the body and a tip end selectively positionable in the flow aperture to alter the flow aperture.

An apparatus, device or system according to one or more aspects includes a first-type diamond semiconductor moveably positioned relative to a second-type diamond semi-conductor, the first-type diamond semiconductor operationally connected to a tool element, the first-type diamond semiconductor moving relative to the second type diamond semiconductor in response to movement of the tool element, and an electrical signal created in response to the first-type and the second-type diamond semi-conductors moving in and out of contact with one another, where the electrical signal or electrical signals are indicative of a monitored condition.
