Distributed firewalls reside at different points across a network. Each distributed firewall can include one or more rules that govern traffic over and/or access to the network. The rules can be discovered, converted into a standardized format, and indexed at a centralized rule database. The rules or data of the rules can be verified. The rules can be certified at the centralized database. The certification process can be based on a direction of traffic to which the rule governs. The certification process may have different levels based on the direction of traffic.

Serialization of firewall rules with user, device, and application correlation

Systems and methods that facilitate operational support for network infrastructures are discussed. The disclosed system and method facilitate a unified view of the current state of the network and networked devices including real-time log monitoring and for providing metrics for long term system planning. One such method can include the acts of automatically discovering a device deployed on a network, receiving device and network related data in real-time, determining whether a device is authorized, terminating device network access, filtering device data, validating device configuration, configuring a device and providing an output for use by a user. The disclosed system and method can be utilized, for example, to reduce the time involved in troubleshooting and resolving network issues, for establishing a baseline for network performance and for network capacity planning.

Operational support for network infrastructures

A system for communicating between networked applications and vehicles that includes a vehicle response server and a vehicle response agent. The vehicle response server can manage communications between at least one vehicle and at least one application remotely located from the vehicle, wherein the application can provide activation contexts to the vehicle. The vehicle response agent can be disposed in the vehicle. The vehicle response agent can receive the activation contexts and determine event occurrences based in part upon the activation contexts and in part upon a location of the vehicle relative to previously defined geographical boundaries specified by the vehicle response server.

Method and system for performing programmatic actions based upon vehicle approximate locations

A system for permitting remotely located applications to obtain information about vehicle conditions and responsively perform programmatic actions based upon the vehicle conditions. The system can include a vehicle response server and a vehicle response agent. The vehicle response server can manage communications between one or more vehicles and at least one application remotely located from the vehicles. The application can automatically execute at least one context-dependent programmatic action based upon an event occurrence triggered by vehicle sensor input. The vehicle response agent, which resides within the vehicle can receive an activation context that specifies conditions for the event occurrence. The vehicle response agent can then monitor the vehicle for the event occurrence and, when appropriate, wirelessly convey an indication of the event occurrence to the vehicle response server. The indication can result in the automatic execution of the at least one context-dependent programmatic action.

Obtaining contextual vehicle information

A method and system for completing user input in a speech recognition system. The method can include a series of steps which can include receiving a user input. The user input can specify an attribute of a selection. The method can include comparing the user input with a set of selections in the speech recognition system. Also, the method can include limiting the set of selections to an available set of selections which can correspond to the received user input. The step of matching a received user spoken utterance with the selection in the available set of selections also can be included.

Method, system, and apparatus for limiting available selections in a speech recognition system

A speech recognition system provides a tactile indication to a user that the system is in a recognizer ready state. The tactile indication can be movement of a push to talk (PTT) button from a first position to a second position. The tactile indication can alternatively be movement of a tactile indicator from a first position to a second position. The tactile indication can also be a vibration. A method of performing speech recognition and a machine readable storage are also disclosed.

Physical user feedback in a speech recognition system

A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling the conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy as well as for controlling the conversion of mechanical energy to electrical energy. In a separately excited electromechanical energy conversion system, total system power losses are minimized by simultaneously controlling the currents flowing in the different windings of the energy conversion device such that these currents are related by an optimizing function. This method and apparatus are applicable to a wide variety of electric motors and generators.
