A method for managing a metrology system includes receiving a part, identifying, with a processing device, a part type associated with the part, retrieving, with the processing device, test rule logic associated with the part type from a database, retrieving, with the processing device, measurement data associated with the identified part type, processing, with the processing device, the measurement data, applying, with the processing device, the test rule logic to the processed measurement data to determine whether the part should be measured, outputting the part responsive to determining that the part should not be measured, and incrementing, with the processing device, a counter and saving a value of the counter in the database responsive to outputting the part responsive to determining that the part should not be measured.

Metrology management

A method identifies time sensitive processing sequences within a production environment using a computerized device. The processing sequences perform operations utilizing one or more tools. The method also identifies non-committed work in process items that are grouped in non-committed lots for release into one or more of the time sensitive processing sequences, and identifies committed work in process items that are being processed in committed lots within the time sensitive processing sequences, using the computerized device. The method sorts the non-committed lots by a predetermined priority, again using the computerized device. Starting with the highest priority non-committed lot (and continuing with others of the non-committed lots in priority order) the method determines whether there is available tool capacity to process a non-committed lot through each corresponding time sensitive processing sequence using the computerized device. If the tool capacity is available for the non-committed lot, the method releases the non-committed lot to begin the corresponding time sensitive processing sequences, using the computerized device.

Product release control into time-sensitive processing environments

A specimen handling apparatus is provided and includes a body in which a bore is defined and a needle having a tip portion and a bit, which is removably insertible into the bore with the tip portion at least partially exposed, the bore and the bit each being formed such that, when the bit is inserted into the bore, the needle is forced into one of first or second rotational positions relative to a long axis thereof.
