A process is provided for heat sealing substrate layers. The process comprising: conveying an upper die having a heating conductor and a lower die having a heating conductor to a sealing region, where a substrate is applied to one or more items; activating a power supply system; monitoring, via the power supply system, a temperature of the heating conductor of the upper die when in the sealing region; monitoring, via the power supply system, a temperature of the heating conductor of the lower die when in the sealing region, wherein the monitoring of the temperature of the heating conductor of the upper die is performed independently of the monitoring of the temperature of the heating conductor of the lower die; supplying power to the upper die based on the temperature of the heating conductor of the upper die; supplying power to the lower die based on the temperature of the heating conductor of the lower die, wherein the power is supplied to the lower die independently of the power being supplied to the upper die.

Multi-die heat sealing system and process

A log saw for cutting convolutely wound logs of web material is disclosed. The log saw includes a cutting blade operating in a cutting plane, a log saw clamp for the retention of a convolutely wound log of web material such that the convolutely wound log of web material extends in a log advancing path through to the cutting plane, and controls connected to the clamping device.

Device for transversally cutting convolutely wound logs of web materials

Finished products formed from cutting convolutely wound logs of web materials

Described herein is an array of finished products, each finished product in the array having a length relative error of less than 0.81% of a target length, H is disclosed. The finished products, which may be toilet paper and kitchen towels, are formed from transversally cutting elongate logs of convolutely wound web materials.

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for removing water from a wet fibrous web. During the process of making a fibrous structure, a capillary dewatering apparatus remove water from a wet porous web. In some configurations, a capillary dewatering apparatus may include a capillary porous media. A molding member, such as a papermaking belt comprising an air permeable fabric, may advance the wet fibrous web onto the capillary porous media, wherein the fibrous web is positioned between the capillary porous media and the air-permeable fabric. An energy transfer surface may be positioned in contact with the air-permeable fabric or the outer circumferential surface, wherein the energy transfer surface operates to vibrate the capillary porous media. In turn, the vibration helps to drive water through the capillary porous media, allowing additional water to flow from the fibrous web and through pores in the capillary porous media.

Method and apparatus for removing water from a capillary cylinder in a papermaking process

A process for registering lines of termination with indicia in a transported sheet of web material is disclosed. The process provides for the steps of: (a) transporting the sheet of web material in a first direction; (b) applying indicia to the sheet from a print cylinder, the print cylinder having a first angular position; (c) imparting lines of termination to the sheet of web material with a rotatable blade, the rotatable blade having a second angular position; (d) calculating a position error by comparing the first angular position of the print cylinder and the second angular position of the rotatable blade; and, (e) adjusting the second angular position of the rotatable blade according to the position error.
