A method of composing a multimedia slide show. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises the steps of: selecting a plurality of digital images; encoding each of the plurality of digital images to generate a normal resolution image portion and a high resolution image portion; multiplexing each corresponding normal and high resolution image portion to generate a single high resolution still image; determining a time parameter for each of the high resolution still images; selecting an audio portion for at least one of the plurality of digital images; concatenating the plurality of high resolution still images to generate a video bitstream; generating an audio bitstream by encoding the audio portion; and multiplexing the video bitstream and audio bitstream to generate the multimedia slide show.

System and method to compose a slide show

A transition in an MPEG sequence including anchor pictures and bidirectionally predicted (B) pictures is encoded by a) coding first and second anchor pictures and b) coding a transition in the sequence by inserting B pictures into the bitstream to create the transition from the first anchor picture to the second anchor picture.

Method and apparatus for generating image transitions

A frame in an uncompressed digital video signal is selected for encoding as a high-fidelity still image. The digital video signal is MPEG encoded to produce an MPEG encoded bitstream and additional bits are employed to encode the selected frame, to produce the MPEG encoded bitstream. The additional bits are determined by fixing the values of MQUANT and 'intra DC mult' for all macroblocks in the selected frame. In an alternative method, the extra bits are determined by repeating the selected frame a plurality of times in the digital video signal prior to encoding the selected frame.

Method and apparatus for encoding high-fidelity still images in MPEG

A method for processing an input digital video signal, the method comprises the steps of capturing first and second frames from the input digital video signal; determining intermediate motion vectors from the first and second frames, which intermediate motion vectors represent motion of objects between frames; and re-creating the second frame for forming a blurred first frame having pixel values determined by combining pixels in the first and second frames, wherein the combining is controlled by the intermediate motion vectors.
