Embodiments relate to illuminated electrosurgical devices and related systems and methods. An electrosurgical device can include an electrosurgical blade having a proximal end and a distal end and comprising a plurality of light elements. A plurality of separation walls and a plurality of apertures can be arranged relative to the plurality of light elements to guide light from the plurality of light elements to illuminate an area around the distal end of the electrosurgical blade.

Illuminated electrosurgical devices, systems and methods

A modular surgical retractor including a handle and a blade. The handle includes a base and a neck. The neck projects from an end of the base to a tail region. The blade includes a head section and a blade member. The head section includes opposing side walls and a floor combining to define a slot sized to receive the neck. The blade member projects from the head section. The blade is removably attached to the handle. In some embodiments, a light source, such as an LED, is disposed within the neck and arranged to emit light along a face of the blade member. Two or more additional blades are provided, each additional blade including the head section and a differently configured blade member.

An electrosurgical device includes a first electrode spaced alongside the second electrode, with each electrode having a blade shaped member. Each blade shaped member has opposing sides bounded by edges, with the edges having a medial edge and a lateral edge. At least one fluid outlet is adjacent each blade shaped member, and each fluid outlet is in fluid communication with a fluid passage. The device can be operated as either a bipolar device or a monopolar device and includes a switch to inhibit capacitive coupling to one of the electrodes when the other electrode is used in monopolar fashion.

A modular surgical retractor including a handle and a blade. The handle includes a base and a neck. The neck projects from an end of the base to a tail region. The blade includes a head section and a blade member. The head section includes opposing side walls and a floor combining to define a slot sized to receive the neck. In an attached state, an attachment face of each side wall contacts the end of the base, and the floor contacts the tail region. Lighted surgical retractor base

A multipurpose electrosurgical device and methods of use are disclosed. In one example, device includes a handpiece and an end effector having a monopolar electrode and a pair of bipolar electrodes. The end effector is coupled to the handpiece and selectively transitionable relative to the handpiece from a first position to a second position. The first position includes the bipolar electrodes extending distally from the device and the monopolar electrode is spaced from a distal end portion of the device. The second position includes the monopolar electrode extending distally and the bipolar electrodes are spaced from a distal end portion of the device.

Fluid-assisted electrosurgical device

A bipolar electrosurgical device is disclosed. The bipolar electrosurgical device includes a handle having a shaft and a distal end. The handle can be coupled to a source of electrical energy and a fluid source. A U-shaped first electrode extends distally in a plane from a pair of openings on the distal end of the shaft. The first electrode is in electrical communication with one of an active pole or a return pole of the source of electrical energy. A longitudinal second electrode extends distally from a middle opening on the distal end of the shaft. The second electrode is coplanar to the first electrode and electrically isolated from the first electrode. The second electrode is in electrical communication with the other of the active pole or the return pole of the source of electrical energy. The second electrode forms a lumen configured to be in fluid communication with the fluid source and a fluid opening for dispersing fluid.

In some embodiments, an electrosurgical device includes a shaft, a first U-shaped electrode at a distal end of the shaft, and a second blade shaped electrode at the distal end of the shaft. The second electrode includes a spherical distal end. And the second electrode is substantially coplanar with the first electrode such that the first electrode surrounds a perimeter of the second electrode. The second electrode is spaced from the first electrode by an aperture. In some embodiments, an electrosurgical device includes a shaft, a first electrode at a distal end of the shaft defining an aperture and comprising a pointed tip, and a second electrode disposed at the distal end of the shaft that is substantially coplanar with the first electrode such that the first electrode surrounds a perimeter of the second electrode. The second electrode is spaced from the first electrode by the aperture.

Electrosurgical devices and methods of use thereof

The invention provides an electrosurgical device and methods of use thereof. In one embodiment, the device may comprise a handle, a shaft distal to the handle, a first electrode tip and a second electrode tip adjacent a distal end of the shaft, with the first electrode tip spaced from the second electrode tip and wherein the first electrode tip comprises a first U-shaped electrode and the second electrode tip comprises a second U-shaped electrode, and at least one fluid outlet. In another embodiment, the device may comprise a handle, a shaft distal to the handle, and a first electrode and a second electrode adjacent a distal end of the shaft with the first electrode coplanar with the second electrode and comprising a wire electrode having a U-shape which surrounds a perimeter of the second electrode and is spaced from the second electrode by an aperture.
