A switch module mountable in a switch box including a switch with a first terminal connectable to the live wire input and a second terminal, a driver circuit with input from the second terminal of the switch and with an output connected to the live wire output. The driver circuit outputs electrical power to the lighting circuit over the live wire output to LED lamp fixtures. The switch module includes a controller connected to the driver circuit. The controller is configured to control at least one of voltage, current, pulse width and pulse duty cycle of the electrical power to the lighting circuit.

Light-emitting diode electrical circuitry for illumination

A ballast circuit adapted for converting an input alternating current (AC) mains power received at input terminals to an output alternating current (AC) to supply a load, e.g. a gas discharge lamp. The output terminals of the ballast connect to the load in parallel with another ballast circuit. The ballast circuit is configured to supply the output AC current to the load in parallel with an AC current output of the other ballast circuit. A synchronization module attached at the output is adapted for synchronizing the output alternating current (AC) of the ballast circuit with the AC current output of the other ballast circuit. The synchronization module is configured to synchronize phase of the output alternating current with phase of the AC current output of the other ballast circuit.

Parallel-connected ballast circuits

A high power lighting fixture which includes a first multiple of first light emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted and series connected to form a first serial string of LEDs on a first circuit board. A second multiple of second light emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted and series connected to form a second serial string of LEDs on a second circuit board. Mating circuit board connectors are mounted on the first and second circuit boards. The first and second LEDs, the number of first and second LEDs and the current supplied when operating the first and second LEDs are selected so that the lighting fixture is operable at a minimum electrical power rating of 100 Watts. A control signal is received which determines current division between the first and second LEDs.

Light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixture

A method for using an electronic ballast circuit configured to operate a high intensity discharge (HID) lamp. Multiple light emitting diodes (LEDs) are attached to the current output of the electronic ballast circuit, and current is driven from the current output to light said LEDs. Optionally, prior to driving current through the LEDs, the impedance of the current output is sensed; and the current is driven through the LEDs to light the LEDs upon detection of an impedance significantly lower than an impedance characteristic of the HID lamp. Ignition appropriate to ignite the high intensity discharge is not performed when LEDS are attached to the current output. Alternatively, a signal is provided to disconnect the LEDs during a high voltage output for ignition of the high intensity discharge (HID) lamp.

Light emitting diodes driven by high intensity discharge ballast

A method for employing an electronic ballast. A distributor is provided with the electronic ballast. An operative parameter of the electronic ballast is configurable to operate a type of gas discharge lamp. The distributor is further provided with a configuration mechanism for configuring said electronic ballast. The electronic ballast is attached to the configuration mechanism, the configuration mechanism is attached to a client computer and the client computer is operatively attached to a configuration service, typically over a wide area network, e.g. Internet. The distributor, using the client computer, requests from the configuration server to configure the ballast. The configuration is performed using the configuration mechanism by transmitting instructions from the configuration server to the client computer in response to the request.

Field configurable ballast

A method for igniting and operating a high intensity discharge (HID) lamp using an electronic ballast controlled by a ballast microcontroller. An ignition circuit including a parallel capacitive circuit is connected in parallel to the HID lamp. The ignition circuit being resonant at an ignition resonance frequency. An ignition voltage is provided to the HID lamp at the ignition resonance frequency, thereby initiating ignition of the HID lamp. Upon sensing the ignition, the HID lamp is powered at an operation frequency. Both the ignition resonance frequency and the operation frequency are in a high frequency range above fifty kilohertz. The ignition voltage preferably does not include a significant direct current offset The current flowing through the HID lamp is substantially continuous during the transition from providing ignition voltage during the ignition to powering the HID lamp at the operation frequency.

Ignition and operation of electronic high intensity discharge lamps

A high frequency electronic ballast for main loads, such as an HID lamp, includes a regulated low voltage output to drive auxiliary loads. A low voltage microcontroller generates a low voltage drive signal in response to voltage and frequency of a high voltage power supply. A switch operably connected to the high voltage power supply and responsive to the low voltage drive signal provides the regulated low voltage output to drive the auxiliary devices, such as a back-up incandescent lamp and/or an insulation detector. In one embodiment, the low voltage output may be responsive to the HID lamp power, e.g., a control signal from a ballast microcontroller, so that the back-up incandescent lamp is energized when the HID lamp is not providing sufficient illumination.

Low voltage output for an electronic ballast

The present invention provides a high frequency electronic ballast with rail voltage switching which adjusts the DC rail voltage output () to account for different voltages of mains power (), improving efficiency. The rail voltage switching comprises a mains power supply () providing mains power () and a mains voltage signal (); a ballast microcontroller () responsive to the mains voltage signal () and generating a power factor correction (PFC) voltage signal (); and a converter () operably connected to the mains power supply () and responsive to the PFC voltage signal () to generate a DC rail voltage output (). For an embodiment using power factor control, the converter () comprises a coil (), power factor correction (), a switch (), and a rectifier ().

Electronic ballast with rail voltage switching

The present invention provides a high frequency electronic ballast with ignition and operation control, and method of use, comprising a ballast microcontroller () responsive to at least one high intensity discharge (HID) lamp feedback signal and generating an HID lamp control signal; a parallel capacitive circuit () operably connected parallel to the HID lamp (); an inductive circuit () operably connected to the parallel capacitive circuit (); means for switching power () to the inductive circuit () in response to the HID lamp control signal; and means for monitoring the HID lamp () to generate at least one high intensity discharge (HID) lamp feedback signal. In one embodiment, the HID lamp feedback signal can be an ignition voltage signal (). In another embodiment, the HID lamp feedback signal can be a sensed rail voltage signal (), a sensed lamp current signal (), and a sensed lamp power signal ().
