An aerosol-generating system is provided, including: an aerosol-generating device including a heater element; and an aerosol-generating article configured to engage with the aerosol-generating device and including a medicament source; a volatile delivery enhancing compound source; at least one frangible barrier sealing the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source; and at least one piercing element disposed on a wall of the aerosol-generating article, the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source being moveable relative to the at least one piercing element, and the at least one piercing element being configured to pierce the at least one frangible barrier when activated by a user.

An aerosol-generating system is provided, including an aerosol-generating device including a heater element, and an aerosol-generating article configured to engage with the aerosol-generating device, the aerosol-generating article including a medicament source, a volatile delivery enhancing compound source, and at least one frangible barrier sealing the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source, the aerosol-generating system further including a rupturing portion forming part of the aerosol-generating device or the aerosol-generating article, the aerosol-generating system being configured to allow relative sliding movement between the rupturing portion and the at least one frangible barrier to rupture the at least one frangible barrier.

An aerosol-generating system is provided, including an aerosol-generating device including a heater element, and an aerosol-generating article configured to engage with the aerosol-generating device. The aerosol-generating article includes a medicament source, a volatile delivery enhancing compound source, and at least one frangible barrier sealing the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source. The aerosol-generating system also includes at least one piercing element disposed on one of the aerosol-generating device and the aerosol-generating article, the at least one piercing element being configured to pierce the at least one frangible barrier when activated by a user.

An aerosol-forming article is provided, including an airflow inlet and an airflow outlet; a medicament source and a volatile delivery enhancing compound source disposed between the airflow inlet and the airflow outlet, and a moveable portion moveable between an open position in which the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source are in fluid communication with both the airflow inlet and the airflow outlet, and a closed position in which each of the medicament source and the volatile delivery enhancing compound source is in communication with only one or none of the airflow inlet and the airflow outlet.

An aerosol-generating system is provided, including an aerosol-generating device including a heater element; an aerosol-generating article including a medicament source and a volatile delivery enhancing compound source; a bimetallic strip provided in the aerosol-generating device or the aerosol-generating article, the bimetallic strip including a first end in thermal contact with the heater element and a second end in thermal contact with the volatile delivery enhancing compound source, the bimetallic strip being configured so that heating the first end of the bimetallic strip above a predetermined temperature results in displacement of the first end of the bimetallic strip away from the heater element.

An injection device () is provided which includes a syringe () having a discharge nozzle (). The syringe is movable between a retracted position in which the discharge nozzle is contained within the housing and an extended position in which the discharge nozzle extends from the housing. A trigger () is activatable to allow the contents of the syringe to be discharged through the discharge nozzle. There is also a releasable locking mechanism () which, when engaged, prevents the trigger from moving into an active position. The trigger includes a first portion () having a cut-out () which extends from a first end of the trigger in a direction substantially parallel to the first axis (). The releasable locking mechanism includes a protrusion () along a second axis () for communicating with the first portion of the trigger when the releasable locking mechanism is engaged and for communicating with the cut-out when the releasable locking mechanism is disengaged. Such an injection device provides improved protection against accidental activation of the trigger.
