A multi-layer polymeric film substrate comprising at least a core layer and a coextruded oxygen barrier layer wherein the film exhibits an oxygen transmission rate (OTR) when measured in accordance with ASTM F1927-14 of below 200 cc/m/24 hr at a relative humidity (RH) of 85% and/or of below 600 cc/m/24 hr at a relative humidity (RH) of 90%.

Barrier film

A sealable and peelable film comprising a four layer coextrudate comprising a core layer contributing predominantly towards the thickness of the film, a first sealing layer provided on one side of the core layer and a second sealing layer, or alternatively a laminating layer, provided on the other side of the core layer, and the film comprising a peeling layer in between the first sealing layer and the core layer and/or in between the second sealing layer, or alternatively the laminating layer, and the core layer, and wherein the peeling layer is adjacent the first sealing layer and/or the second sealing layer and/or the laminating layer, and wherein the relative thickness of the peeling layer and its adjacent sealing and/or lamination layer (p:s/l ratio) is from 1:10 to 5:1.

Sealable, peelable film

A film for use in a packaging structure, comprising a coating on the film surface which comprises a binder and a particulate protuberant component able to remove a volatile organic compound from an environment in contact with the film in the packaging structure. Also provided is a packaging structure comprising such a film and a package which comprises the packaging structure.

The present application concerns a coated film comprising a substantially biodegradable substrate having a biodegradable coating thereon at a coat weight of not more than 12 gsm, as well as useful articles sealed inside a package at least partly comprising such a film, and also a process for producing a coated film comprising providing a substantially biodegradable film substrate and applying a biodegradable coating to the substrate at a coat weight of less than 12 gsm by means of a hot melt coating step.

Biodegradable film

A ream wrap package formed by wrapping a sheet of polymeric film around a stack of paper, the sheet having at least one line of weakness formed therein, to form a rectangular tube with sides overlapping, sealing one side to the other to form a girth seal, closing the tube at each end to form an envelope seal with tucked in ends and overlapping flaps, at least one of which is trapezoidal, so that in the formed package there is at least one line of weakness extending along the whole length of a surface of the package outside the girth seal, positioned so that it terminates at each end of the package within a region of the transverse direction defined by that portion of the overlapping flaps where there are only two layers of overlapping film.

Easy open ream wrap

There is described a flexible oriented film () which acts a replacement for tear film, the film () having at least one tear susceptible line () or pattern thereon (preferably weaker than the surrounding film), the film tearing substantially therealong when tearing is initiated therealong, characterised in that the line () or pattern has substantially the same thickness normal to the film surface (gauge) as the rest of the film; and/or the film material therealong is substantially differently (preferably more) oriented (in extent and/or direction) to that in the rest of the film. The means for forming the line () or pattern is preferably a laser (e.g. infra-red COlaser) set at a sufficiently low power not to ablate material therealong but at a sufficiently high power to reorient the film therealong. A method of preparing such films () and packaging () (such as cigarette packs) overwrapped with such films () are also described.
