A heat sink disposable on a heat transfer surface of a heat-generating source such as an electronic component. The heat sink includes a base portion and a body portion. The base portion has a first surface disposable on the heat transfer surface, and a second surface opposite the first surface. The body portion is joined to the second surface of the base portion and is formed of a stack of corrugated sheets of one or more metal foils arranged to form a cellular, honeycomb-like structure.

Lightweight heat sink

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gasket. The gasket is formed as having a resilient core member of an indefinite length which is sheathed in an electrically conductive fiber mesh member. A thermoplastic member is incorporated within the fiber mesh member for consolidating at least a portion of the fiber mesh member. The consolidation is effective to maintain the integrity of the fiber mesh member at an end of the gasket when the gasket is terminated to a determinable length.

EMI shielding gasket having a consolidated conductive sheathing

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielded vent panel construction for disposition over an opening of an electronics enclosure. The panel includes an electrically-conductive media having an outer periphery supported within an electrically-conductive frame. The frame is configured as including an elongate end wall, and a pair of oppositely-disposed side walls. Each of the side walls has an outer surface, one of which is disposable about the opening of the enclosure in electrically-conductive adjacency with the surface thereof, and an inner surface spaced-apart from the inner surface of the other of the side walls. The outer periphery of the media is retained intermediate the inner surfaces of the side walls. At least one of the side walls is formed as having a series of spaced-apart first tabs defined therein along the perimeter of the frame, each of the first tabs having a proximal end and a downwardly-depending distal end which contacts the corresponding edge portion of the media effective to provide electrical contact between the frame and the media.

EMI shielding vent panel for high volume applications

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielded vent panel construction for disposition over an opening of an electronics enclosure. The panel includes an electrically-conductive medium having an outer periphery supported within an electrically-conductive frame. The frame is configured as having a generally C-shaped cross-sectional profile and includes an elongate end wall having an interior an exterior surface, and a pair of oppositely-disposed side walls extending from the end wall interior surface. Each of the side walls has an outer surface, one of which is disposable about the opening of the enclosure in electrically-conductive adjacency with the surface thereof, and an inner surface spaced-apart a first predetermined distance from the inner surface of the other of the side walls. The outer periphery of the medium is received intermediate the inner surfaces of the side walls such that each extends over a corresponding edge portion of the medium faces. Along with the medium, an electrically-conductive gasket is disposed intermediate the inner surface of a first one of the side walls and the edge portion of a first one of the medium faces. The gasket extends along substantially the entire perimeter of the frame and is deflectable between the side wall inner surface and the corresponding edge portion of the medium face. As assembled, the frame is compressed to space each of the side wall inner surfaces a second predetermined distance apart deflecting the gasket into a collapsed orientation providing electrical grounding contact between the frame and the medium.

EMI shielded vent panel and method

A heat-shrinkable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding jacket sheathable over a generally elongate object of a given outer diameter extent. The jacket is formed of a tubular outer member of an indefinite length and an expanded inner diameter which is greater than the outer diameter of the object, an electrically-conductive inner member received coaxially within the outer member and extending coextensive therewith, and a generally continuous, thermoplastic interlayer interposed between the outer and inner members and extending coextensive therewith. The interlayer bonds the inner member to the outer member along substantially the entire length thereof for consolidating the jacket into an integral structure. The outer member, in turn, is heat-shrinkable to a recovered, i.e., contracted inner diameter smaller than the expanded inner diameter for substantially conforming the jacket to the outer diametric extent of the object.

Heat-shrinkable jacket for EMI shielding

Method of terminating at least one end of an EMI shielding gasket having an indefinite length. A resilient core member of an indefinite length is sheathed within an electrically conductive fiber mesh member. A thermoplastic member is incorporated within the conductive fiber mesh member, and then is heated to effect its melting which, in turn, effects the consolidation of at least a portion of the fiber mesh member. The gasket so formed then is terminated to a determinable length having an end through a consolidated portion of the fiber mesh member. The consolidated portion is effective to maintain the integrity of the fiber mesh member at the terminated end.
