A filtration bag assembly may include an air permeable bag and a collar affixed thereto. The collar may include an opening that communicates with the interior of said bag and at least one panel that is movable to selectively obscure the opening. The collar includes a bottom surface and a pair of opposed tabs extending laterally from opposed lateral edges of the collar. A bracket is secured to the floor cleaning apparatus and includes a pair of opposed legs, that each includes a first ramp surface and a second ramp surface. During insertion of the collar into said bracket, the first ramp surface slidingly contacts the bottom surface and the second ramp surface slidingly contacts said tabs to move the collar upwardly into fluid communication with a nozzle.

Self-sealing bag arrangement for a floor cleaning device

An upright vacuum cleaner is provided having a dirt collecting system with a downwardly pivoting lid for disposing of the collected dirt. The dirt collecting system has a latching arrangement for securing the pivoting lid into the closed position. A release member on the sidewall of the dirt collecting container is in operative engagement with a latching arrangement for releasing the pivoting lid from the closed position when the dirt collecting container is removed from the cleaner housing. The latching arrangement utilizes a slide member that traverses the underside of the pivoting lid. The slide member is biased into the latched position by a pair of resilient members. A pair of torsional springs are disposed in the hinges pivotally connecting the pivoting lid to the sidewall of the dirt collecting container to bias the pivoting lid into the open position when the release member is depressed.

Dirt collecting system for a floor care appliance

The cleaning apparatus includes a base portion for movement along the surface and a handle pivotally connected to the base portion. A recovery tank is removably mounted to the handle and has a front end. A lid covers the recovery tank and has an inlet opening for directing dirt and liquid into the recovery tank and an outlet opening located at the front end of the recovery tank. A suction nozzle is secured to the base portion and fluidly communicates with the inlet opening of the lid. A suction source fluidly communicates with the outlet opening for drawing dirt and liquid from the surface through the suction nozzle and into the recovery tank. A partition device is positioned between the outlet opening and the inlet opening and extends down within the recovery tank a sufficient distance to prevent the liquid from flowing from the inlet opening to the outlet opening.

Recovery tank for a cleaning apparatus

A cleaning apparatus for cleaning a surface in which cleaning solution is dispensed to the surface and substantially simultaneously extracted along with the dirt on the surface in a continuous operation is provided. The cleaning apparatus includes a base portion for movement along the surface and a handle pivotally connected to the base portion. A solution tank for supplying a flow of cleaning solution to the surface is removably mounted to a side of the handle. A recovery tank is removably mounted to the opposite side of the handle. A suction nozzle is secured to the base portion. A suction source is in fluid communication with the suction nozzle for generating suction to draw dirt and liquid through the suction nozzle and into the recovery tank.
