The method comprises automatically performing operations of: color extraction from an image comprised in video component of the audio-visual content, calculating an audio intensity level of an audio sample of the audio component of the audio-visual content, determining of a first target light color and a first audio intensity level based on the extracted color and the calculated audio intensity level; and controlling at least one lighting device according to the determined first target light color and the first audio intensity level. This method provides for control in a manner which increases immersion of a user experiencing the audio-visual content as being rendered by, for example a TV, through providing light effects by a connected lighting system.

A controller handles control events in a system of networked home devices by: receiving a signal indicative of a control event, which is an actuation of a user input device; and in response, determining whether to perform a control function associated with a networked home device, that determination being made in dependence on a state of interaction between that device and a physical environment in which it is located at a time of the control event. Method of using a connected lighting system

A lighting network () comprises a plurality of lighting devices (A-H) each having at least one connection to a source device (), the connection being either direct or indirect via one or more others of the lighting devices forming the indirect connection, each of the lighting devices comprising a respective light source. A method of troubleshooting the lighting network comprises steps of: identifying, for a target one of the lighting devices, at least one of said connections between the source device and the target lighting device; determining a characteristic of the identified connection from the source device to the target device, wherein the characteristic comprises a signal strength of the identified one of said connections and/or a latency of the identified one of said connections; and controlling at least one of the light sources to render a visualization of the identified connection between the source device and the target lighting device in the lighting network.

Lighting troubleshooting

An entertainment system plays out audio and/or visual media into a region, wherein the media further comprises metadata specifying an optimal ambience setting for the media. A lighting system controls ambient lighting in the region, the lighting system comprising one or more luminaries, and the one or more luminaires comprising at least one moveable luminaire. Further, a controller determines one or more positioning instructions to specify a target position of the at least one moveable luminaire in order to achieve the optimal ambience setting specified in the metadata, and output the one or more positioning instructions in order to cause the at least one moveable luminaire to be repositioned. The controller then controls the ambient lighting by varying one or more light characteristics of the ambient lighting based on the metadata, such that the ambient lighting corresponds to the playing out of the media.

According to one aspect disclosed herein, there is provided a lighting control system for controlling one or more luminaires of a lighting system to illuminate an environment, the lighting control system comprising: an interface for sending control commands to the luminaires; an automation component configured to: automatically control, via the interface, the luminaires according to a set of one or more automation rules stored in a memory accessible by the lighting control system; and a suppression component configured to: process data pertaining to a user in the environment from at least one data source to monitor activity exhibited by the user in the environment; detect a condition of increased user stress based on the activity monitoring; identify at least one of the automation rules as a potential cause of the increased user stress; and suppress or modify the identified automation rule for at least one of the luminaires based thereon.

Adaptive lighting automation

A lighting script&#x2014;for use by a lighting controller to control at least one luminaire to render illumination effects, as the video content is outputted in a space illuminated by the at least one luminaire, synchronously with the outputting of the video content&#x2014;is generated as follows. Frame image data of the video content is processed to determine at least one color palette of the frame image data. A sequence of illumination effects&#x2014;to be rendered during the outputting of the video content and which is modifiable by a user&#x2014;is displayed to the user. The displayed sequence conveys at least one illumination color derived from the determined color palette to be rendered in at least one of the illumination effects. The generated lighting script is for rendering the modified sequence of illumination effects.
