A pre-objective two-degree-of-freedom galvanometer scanning system including two galvo mirrors () with an optical relay () between the mirrors () and a microscope objective () with a curved image plane () is presented. The second galvo mirror () is located in the aperture stop before the objective. The optical system enables scanning in both directions over the full, curved field for creating custom refractive structures across the 6.5 mm optical zone of contact lenses using femtosecond micro-modification.

Methods and systems wherein laser induced refractive index changes by focused femtosecond laser pulses in optical polymeric materials or ocular tissues is performed to address various types of vision correction, and the laser induced changes to the refractive index avoid ablation and removal of the optical polymer materials while minimizing scattering losses.

Vision correction with laser refractive index changes

Refractive index writing system and methods employing a pulsed laser source for providing a pulsed laser output at a first wavelength; an objective lens for focusing the pulsed laser output to a focal spot in an optical material; a scanner for relatively moving the focal spot with respect to the optical material at a relative speed and direction along a scan region for writing one or more traces in the optical material defined by a change in refractive index; and a controller for controlling laser exposures along the one or more traces in accordance with a calibration function for the optical material to achieve a desired refractive index profile in the optical material. The refractive index writing system may be for writing traces in in vivo optical tissue, and the controller may be configured with a calibration function obtained by calibrating refractive index change induced in enucleated ocular globes. A real-time process control monitor for detecting emissions from the optical material transmitted through the objective lens at a second wavelength may further be employed while writing the one or more traces.

Refractive index shaping laser writing process control

Methods and systems wherein laser induced refractive index changes by focused femtosecond laser pulses in optical polymeric materials or ocular tissues is performed to address various types of vision correction.

A high numerical aperture opto-mechanical scanner for writing refractive index modifications includes a fast axis scanner having a fast scanning axis. A waveform generator is electrically coupled to the fast axis scanner, and a waveform is provided by the waveform generator which defines a fast scan of the fast axis scanner. A scanning lens assembly is mechanically coupled to the fast axis scanner, the scanning lens assembly having a NA greater than 0.5 and a scanning lens motion along the fast scanning axis. A femtosecond laser is optically coupled through the scanning lens assembly to a surface of a material, creating a femtosecond laser light scanning pattern to write the refractive index modifications into the material. A method for writing refractive index modifications using a high numerical aperture opto-mechanical scanner is also described.

High numerical aperture optomechanical scanner for layered gradient index microlenses, methods, and applications

A compact, balanced, up to three degrees of freedom measuring interferometer having dual beam splitters rotated ninety degrees with respect to each other and a measurement detector including a quadrant detector or multi-core fiber with four detectors which enables fiber delivery of an optical source without periodic error, an interferometer system, and method for using is disclosed.
