Translating user interface sounds into 3D audio comprises: receiving an audio request call from a process relating to a user interface event; converting the audio request call into a position in 3D audio space representative of the process from which the call has been received; and playing a corresponding sound in a surround sound system in the position in 3D audio space. Each open application in a graphical user interface may be provided with a sound space, in the 3D audio space, from which any event sounds are played.

Described are a system and method for modifying an element displayed on a touch-sensitive device. A user input associated with a first element is displayed on a touch-sensitive device. An input error is detected based on the user input. A rule is applied that determines an action to be directed to a second element on the touch-sensitive device in response to the user input error. The action is applied to the second element in response to the applied rule.

A method, computer program product, and system for a quality-of-service history database is described. A first input associated with a change to a component of a graphical user interface is received, wherein a portion of the component is represented as a first node of a tree structure representing a portion of the graphical user interface. A first characteristic of the change is determined. The first characteristic of the change is associated with a second node of the topic tree structure. The associated first characteristic is transmitted to a first computing device, wherein transmission of the associated first characteristic allows one or more of the first computing device and a second computing device to determine a first aspect of the change based upon, at least in part, the topic tree structure.

The dynamic setting of an increment on an amplitude scale of an output signal includes receiving a user input requesting a change in an amplitude of the output signal. The amplitude of an external signal related to the output signal is determined, and a set of increments on the amplitude scale is calculated based upon the current amplitude of the output signal and the amplitude of the external signal. The existing set of increments are replaced with the newly calculated set of increments and the amplitude of the output signal is set to the next increment of the newly calculated set of increments.

In an embodiment of the invention, a method for flattening a subset of configuration UI panels in a hierarchy of UI panels has been provided. The method includes executing a query against an index of artifacts for which configuration parameter values are receivable in a corresponding panel disposed within a hierarchy of panels of an application. The method additionally includes receiving a result set of artifacts from the index for the query and identifying panels in the hierarchy corresponding to artifacts in the result set. Finally, the method includes displaying a single window in the application with an arrangement of the identified panels. Of note, the method also can include receiving configuration parameter values for the artifacts of the result set through the identified panels in the single window and applying the received configuration parameter values for the artifacts of the result set.

A method for modifying a user interface (UI), comprising the steps of: listening for a UI event; determining whether the UI event is erroneous; in response to determining that the UI event is erroneous, initiating a recording comprising a user fix of the error and a state associated with the UI; storing the user fix as an alternative UI event; and in response to subsequently detecting the UI event and a matching state associated with the UI, providing the alternative UI event such that the UI is modified.
